My complaint is towards The Estates of McKinney Apartments, these apartments look beautiful from the outside, very nice pools, and a lovely club house. However once we were a few months into the lease that we quickly figured out it was a complete scam! For starters the "lovely club house" I spoke of earlier was never open! The pools were dirty twenty- four/seven! The apartments were nice and new, but quickly turned to crap, the doors would never seal right, thus our heating/air bills were outrageous! If someone across the way opened their door and let it slam our door would fly open!

The apartments were gated, you needed a code to enter the complex. Well a week into living in the apartment someone ran into the exit gate breaking it leaving it stuck open. Which is fine, but when it takes 3 months to fix, that is not okay with me. Once the gate broke, more and more people started to park near our apartment. Oddly enough we were living in a two bedroom apartment and only got one assigned parking spot, so every night once I was done with classes or work I had to find a parking spot miles away from MY OWN apartment. The lighting was not so great either so on many occasions I was nearly hit by young/drunk/high individuals driving through the complex. I had a neighbor try to call the "Complex Cop" but never got a return phone call.

Needless to say the management at the complex did nothing! The dumpster was ALWAYS full, furnature, TVS, boxes whatever you name it was in the dumpster and around it. If you called the maintenance guys it took them weeks to respond, otherwise they never did. Long story short after dealing with a LONG year of bs we finally were ready to move into our house and we put in our notice. We were treated like criminals! We had to ask for paint to touch up the walls numerous times, when finally we had to go to the office and get the paint ourselves. We touched up walls and had the carpets shampooed as well as having everything cleaned. The apartment was immaculate to say the least, we were excited to get our deposit back!

Unfortunately the apartment complex chose to keep our deposit because the walls were "spotted" and they had to "stretch and fix" the carpet. I would understand this choice if maybe the apartment was dirty or ruined, but the fact that we spent so much time making sure it looked perfect, we had no dogs or children it was just the two of us. Anyways they continued by saying that they were also charging us a month of water usage, during a month that we were not even living at the apartment. PLUS they are charging us out of pocket for outrageous reasons.

When my fiance called on several occasions and was told multiple different excuses for taking the deposit and the additional charges. When he finally went to the apartment complex to speak with someone they were not very helpful. I have been doing some research online and I am not the only one who feels like they have been ripped off by these people. I feel that if I don't inform people that they will also be ripped off, one woman has had the whole thing effect her credit! All for some SH** apartment.

Anyways if there is anything anyone can tell me about how to possibly go about getting help that would be great! Otherwise if anyone knows something I don't about this process let me know! Thanks!
