Mileage

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

Did you try calling them and seeing where they got the numbers from? Most insurance companies either get the numbers from you (from a form they mail.. if you estimate it, it can vastly change your annual milage) or from the DMV. Most insurance companies will work with you if you can tell them what your current miles are, and if you can give them what your miles were on your last oil change. Most companies I know of can do this.. it's as easy as pulling out your paperwork and telling them the numbers.

I may know the "somehow"

AUTHOR: Northwest - (U.S.A.)

I used to have Hartford Insurance, but went elsewhere for other reasons. Anyway, they do base rates on miles driven - more miles means greater risk exposure. Every year or two when I renewd they asked for the milage. After a two year period of higher milage, they put me in a different catagory and upped the rates. On the other hand, if my milage for the next two year period were to decrease, they would then give me a lower rate.
