The Home Depot The Home Depot Hidden Return Policy and the Retail Equation Apex North Carolina
This afternoon, I had pretty much the same experience as what was described in the Ripoff report # 991518. Tonight, I was searching anybody else who had the same experience as I did this afternoon with the Home Depot Hidden Return Policy. And I found that report, and deeply feel the same angry and dispoint on how they are treating people. Here is the link to that report, and I don't want to say what have already been said there and just to add my own situation and experience in my report.
I was returning a $20 item and got rejected by the same "TRE has blocked you". I was asking/trying to talk to the person who was in the store and knows everything about their return policy, since I had the original receipt (
Yes, I was using Gift cards to make most of my Home Depot purchases, including that return. But these days, there are so many promotions and/or sites to legally sell the gift cards at a discount. Why shouldn't I use it? I did not keep the original card because it was depleted and the casher already disposed it. That could not be an excuse for home depot not to refund as a store credit. So, when I was raising my voice to find out any additional info, another crew cut in, who is tall, young and seems to be strong, and threaten me to leave the store. He even pretended to be the supervisor of the lady I was talking to. Actually, we all knew he is not. I left, not because of him, but I did need to run to pick up my kids from camps.
At home, I picked up the phone and called the 800 number. The answer I got is that The Home Depot Corpartion, not any specific store, is using TRE's service to collect the return data and trigs rejections using their own hidden policy or models, which is unknown the TRE. This policy is still hidden to me, although I requested my Return Activities Report from TRE.
Clearly, The Home Depot is doing its best to maximize their profit. BTW, I believe that young man was also doing threatening for the same purpose, because I raised my voice and might attract other customers for our conversation, they simply don't want let more people know about their hidden return policy.
I am not even blaming about that. But I do want to ask if it is legal to do this practise without letting people knew ahead of time and even after of time. Every time, I went to Home Depot and always heard "More saving, more doing, that's the power of Home Depot". They would not allow "More doing, More Returning" as one of the nature consequencies, simply because it is against their profit. Nevertheless, I think Home Depot abused its power and reject the returns without a definite reason. Is there any regulation about Store Return Policy? Shouldn't it at least CLEARLY mention THEIR HIDDEN MODEL automatically used in their returns?
I can understand people make mistakes sometimes. I had following experience at your Home Depot Stores: 1. One item charged for two. I went home and found out and drove back with my effort and cost. Luckily, the cashed still remembered me and my purchase. 2. Order online, pick in store. But I found wrong items, missing items... But I never complained and/or use any hidden model to treat you, since I appreciate.
