Stay away from HOME DEPOT CUB CADET LTX 1050 LAWN TRACTOR.
Bought new Cub Cadet LTX 1050 Lawn tractor in May 2009 from Home Depot Honesdale PA.Was told by the sales person it did have warranty for 2 years included not true!.O well I used the tractor for light grass mowing on my flat lawn in front and back of my house for about, 26 hours on the tractor and 50 days after purchase on the tractor on 05/26/09.In mid July 09 I noticed some white smoke and bad smell coming from the ingine.

I shut of the engine and checked the oil dib-stick.The oil level was fine,I then tryed to start the tractor up again, nothing just some click and that was it.I called the Home Depot center where I purchased the tractor. After several phone calls to them I was told I must bring the tractor back to home depot a 35 miles roundtrip. After taken the tractor and unloaded the tractor to the Home Depot Center in Honesdale I was told by the customer service deck person it would be $ 35.00 upfront charge! to send the tractor to N.J. for repair, but the good news she said I would get my $ 35.00 back when the tractor came back from the repair shop in N.J. This was on 07-21/09.

On 07/24/09 I got a call from the Cub Cadet repair shop in N.J. The lady on the phone asked if I would proof the repair? I said how much? the answer $950.50 !!! I said you must be kidding ? no she said the engine was totally gone & I was responsable for repair bill.I said I don't thing so.I told her I would call Home Depot and find out what the heck is going on here?.The store manager said the 2 year warranty I got with the purchase would not cover this cost! And they at HOME DEPOT WOULD NOT TAKE THE ITEM BACK BEING IT'S OVER 30 DAYS SINCE I BOUGTH THE TRACTOR.

So I guess my 2 year warranty with the tractor went from 2 years to 30 days! This store manager was not helpful at all to resolve this matter.Gave all kind of 800 # to call This tractor is still in N.J. and will be send back to home depot unrepaired being I will not pay this bill. And add insult to injury was told by Home Depot if I did not agree to pay the repair bill it was for me to pick up unrepaired at Home Depot! I Paid for this tractor $ 1,907.04 plus $35.00 pickup fee and $ 950.00 repair bill if I aggree.NO WAY I WILL AGREE. HOME DEPOT THE TRACTOR IS YOURS.

Home Depot has 1 option give me my money back in full.I put this purchase on my Home Depot Credit and I have 12 months to pay the tractor off.If the Home Depot does not do the right thing to take the tractor back for full refund I will not pay for this "lemon tractor" on my Home Depot Credit. If that means bad credit report so be it.Don't buy Law tractor like CUB CADET LTX 1050 from Home Depot don't waist your time and money.I have also searched the web and noticed there are many complains about so called new/better re-deigned CUB CADET LTX 1050 tractor. This tractor is bad investment : Home Depot Sold me a bad lemon floor model tractors and won't take back so far.I will fight them and I will keep you posted.Any feedback and suggestion would be appreciated in this matter.

for your warranty issue.  There is a manufacturer's warranty.  Here it is from the cub cadet website:

WARRANTY

Warranty
3-year/120-hour & 5-year/500-hour limited
See your local Independent Dealer for warranty details

Home Depot is NOT the only retailer for Cub Cadet products.

Good luck.

There are a few things I would like to say about this story...

First, "customer" says he bought a NEW tractor and later called it a bad lemon floor model.  Well, first he would have gotten a discount if it was indeed a floor model or had been previously sent out for repair.  Also if it was indeed a floor model or reconditioned, there would only be a 30 day warranty on it.

Second, just because something says lifetime guarranty or 2 year guarranty, please please read your paperwork! There are many reasons that a company wont stand by that guarranty.  Especially if they believe you have used and abused the item in question.

Third, going into a store and yelling or getting angry at a store associate is not going to help matters.  If you calmly state what your problem is, you are more likely to recieve help on such matters.  Also, dont make it personal (ex, you sold me this junk, you did this or that...) trust me, it wont help you or make anyone else want to help  you.

And my last comment, the reason the store manager was giving you "all kinds of 800#'s" is because that is what he is supposed to do, he is supposed to put you in contact with the right people who can help you.  If he was giving you corporate numbers that is because your mower wasnt covered by warranty and it was over the 30 return policy and there was simply nothing he could do.  There are company rules for those kind of things.  My suggestion, take those numbers he gave you and call them! Find out some more information about why the mower isnt covered.. if it is fact a "lemon" then you tell the district manager or someone higher up and your problem will get taken care of.  Dont belittle them or the company they work for as most Home Depot employees tend to bleed orange and take it very personally.  I hope this helps you.
