From June to October 2006, the contents of my apt. were put in storage with The Moving Connection in Saddle Brook, NJ. This is the first and last time I will ever use a storage facility. I would rather sell everything I own.

When a rep. from this company initially came to my apt., she looked at everything I wanted to be moved and placed in storage. At that time, she gave me an estimate of $1,200 for the move and first months' storage fee. After the move, it increased to $1,870.60. They claimed an additional 2 and 1/2 hours of movings time, a half hour of travel time, (it does not take a half hour to get from Saddle Brook to Lodi) and my monthly storage fee went up from $354 to $470.60 per month. All I did was add 7 items because we were unable to bring them with us - they were a table, 2 chairs, 2 speakers and 2 small toy chests.

When my husband and I initially went to this company in Saddle Brook and met with a rep., he showed us the warehouse and explained to us how our furniture would be stored, how the boxes would be placed, how careful they were, etc. When my husband asked if at any time we need to get something out of storage this rep. told us yes, no problem.

In August, I contacted The Moving Connection to get a box out of storage. She told me that I was not allowed to enter the warehouse because of insurance reasons, if the box was not accessible I would be charged $110 per hour and that my belongings were not even in Saddle Brook they were in a storage facility in Lodi. I was never told any of the above.

In November, we moved into a new apt. As we unpacked that month, we saw that our wall unit was damaged - I dont know what was on top of it but it must have been heavy because two big pieces were pulled up. Also the glass mirror on the door was broken and cracked. Two boxes of items my in-laws had sent from Portugal which we displayed in our wall unit were missing, my daughter's dresser has chips along the side, my dresser has chips along the side, boxes of christmas decorations were crushed and damaged and a box of tools, nuts, bolts, batteries, etc. my husband had was also missing.

I did not purchase insurance at the time because it was too much money but now I wish I did. When I called in November and spoke with The Moving Connection, she told me that I would be compensated anyway - 60 cents on the pound. I had to take pictures, write down all their numbers on the 80+ boxes delivered to me so she could compare it to her list, etc. Due to a lenghtly hospital stay and death of my father, I never did this. I wish I did because I dont have the money to fix my furniture. I did purchase new christmas decorations last December.

I contacted the Better Business Bureau and absolutely nothing was done. I just want people to know not to use this company, they are not truthful, they are sneaky, and once they are paid, they do not think twice about a complaint against them.

STOP! ..before you think about using the Better Business Bureau (BBB)... CLICK HERE to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! It has been reported, when there are thousands of complaints and other investigations underway by authorities, the BBB has no choice but to finally give an UNsatisfactory rating to a BBB member business that is paying the BBB big membership fees every year. When a business is reported that is NOT a BBB member, BBB files WILL more likely show an UNsatisfactory rating, then reportedly shake down that company to become a member of the BBB. One positive thing about the BBB is, either way, if a business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB, you can be sure, the business is bad. But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business? Click here to understand more of what consumers and business alike are saying about the BBB. You decide. ..Remember. The BBB membership is not earned, it's paid for!

I was quoted 70 dollars times how many hours of work used to move me.  They said no other cost were involved.  Also told me no minimum is required and  that if drivers did only 3 hours, all I would pay $210 (which is 70 x 3).  Also when movers arrived to my location, I asked them to confirm the cost and they said the same ( 70 dollars time how many hours used. ) Movers only did 3.5 hours of time for my move and then would not unload my items from their truck until I paid them $650.00 in cash.  BEWARE OF THIS FRAUDULENT COMPANY - This was a big mess and now is a headache, because I have to taking legal action to get my money back that they over charged me for.  Because there are many Moving Connections, make sure not to use this company.  I am referring to Moving Connection in SaddleBrook New Jersey.  Some lady name Nicole (if she was not lying about her name too) is who I had always talked to by phone and email.  Now whenever I call or email them, they don't answer the phone, nor do they reply to my emails.

The only move of your household goods which you can trust is a DIY Move. Then if something does get lost or broken, you will know right away.

One of our moves was into Upstate NY c1993 and our goods were then placed in storage for a little while. Now everybody always recommends that electronics should be shipped in their original boxing to provide the best protection, and that original boxing also will feature the manufacturers labeling.

Long story short, after we had moved into a house and requested that our goods be delivered there were several days delay because of "storage fee payment questions". The company I worked for said the fees were up to date but it took three days for the storage facility to "agree" that the account was, indeed, current and then schedule the delivery of our household goods. Why the delay?

Finally our goods were delivered. I connected our then-expensive and then-new VCR machine to our TV but it would not work. The repair shop I took it to said that the tape mechanism was bent and the heads were also worn out! The TV looked a bit used, too. This must explain the reason for the three-day "account payments question".....
