The Ohio Center For Broadcasting This "school" is the BIGGEST SCAM EVER! Valley View Ohio

Had I remembered my password to my crystal ball the day i signed up for this school I would have NEVER EVER EVER in a million years signed up and WASTED $15,000 or 3 nights a week going here! Its a place full of LIES, FAULTY OUTDATED EQUIPMENT, SHADY SHADY SHADY PEOPLE RUNNING THE SCHOOL, and LACK OF DIRECTION!!!

First off, YES, Gary James PROMISES a 94% placement...Lie all you want Gary but at the beginning of the year you fill everyones heads up with big dreams and promises and good jobs and blah blah blah but as the year goes on you PULL BACK on everything you said in the beginning... All of a sudden there is no set placement, and you arent guaranteed that great job...and most of the jobs you have are in BFE making a JOKE salary...But it's ok to speak the truth in the last couple months of the program because you already got everyones tuition at that point and it's too late to decide that "hey, maybe this school isnt so great". Gary James is nothing but a LIAR!! He makes up so much stuff that if you listen to him tell a story and you go back the next week and ask him about it, he will have NO CLUE what your even talking about! Hes the kind of person that when he talks YOU KNOW he making up everything he's saying!!! He also thinks he knows it all! YEAH RIGHT! If you know it all and you are sooo good at this business and you have all these so-called connections in the industry...why are you working in some slummy school making crappy money?? Go out and get yourself one of those "GREAT JOBS"! Oh wait...your full of CRAP!!!!!

Now, The Instructors...current professionals in the industry...HA HA HA! One instructor asks to borrow money from students ALL the time (he's doing well in the industry), another instructor was FIRED from his "industry job" because of something he did on the air (thats a great teacher!), another instructor came in daily smelling like he had been drinking all day up until the point it was time to come in and "instruct" the class...he also had NO CLUE how to use ANY of the editing software...yet he was our "teacher"?? And among the rest of the crack squad...do any of them have any degree in teaching or anything of the sort? No! They do whatever Maggie tells them to...and oh yeah we'll get to her! So pretty much to be a teacher at this school you have to or had to at one point be involved in ANY type of media related thing for atleast I'd say like a week or so? I filmed my sisters birthday party with a video camera once...I could probably be a teacher at OCB!

LACK OF DIRECTION...There are days where we WASTE all 4 hours on doing absolutly NOTHING! They will give us BOGUS projects just to kill time because there was nothing planned! OR we will have stuff to do but there is another class using the equipment... well at $15,000 a head...there should be MORE THAN ENOUGH equipment for EVERYONE to use! wouldnt you think so?? well there's not! we'll get to that as well... There have been classes where students just up and leave and do errands during class time and then come back and the "instructor" had no idea! They give us projects to do that take about 15 min. to complete...so what do we do with the remaining 3 hours and 45 min. well thats easy...we sit around and talk and order food! because there is NOTHING else to do!!!!! OR we can spend 4 weeks on producing commercial spots! That was a HUGE waste of time!

State of the art equipment... really? because I see a bunch of studios (meaning all 8 of them) with logs on the door with things that are wrong with them! There is not 1 single studio that has everything working in it! The equipment is sooooo outdated...remember Cool Edit?? Thats what we use! They dont even make Cool Edit anymore!!! Boards have broken knobs on them, the walls are anything BUT sound proofed! try recording something when theres someone next door playing a music bed...guess what you pick up? Their music bed! Its great!!!! NOT!!! The walls are all cracked and have writing on them...it looks DISGUSTING in that building! The main control room looks nice right? and that big huge board looks nice too huh? looks expensive! Ya...it was DONATED from a news station that was buying UP TO DATE EQUIPMENT...so we got the old stuff... remind me again...where is this $15,000 a person going again?! If you took every single peice of equipment in that building and did an estimate on its actual worth...it would be about $30,000...and thats being VERY generous...the cost of 2 peoples tuition! I think there should be an investigation as to where is all the money going?!?! definatly NOT equipment!

Feel like your getting screwed? YOU SHOULD! Your going to OCB to get experience in all aspects or radio and TV... how is that possible when you do approx. 4 projects and you get assigned groups and jobs... Not once have I gotten in-front of a camera AS PROMISED or Worked the control board in the TV studio or been a director...They tend to forget that this is a SCHOOL...WE DO NOT WORK THERE!!!!!! We are going to get experience to get a job in the field! There have been times where people have actually gotten FIRED from their "job" on a project...where in the hell is the learning experience there?!?!? So someone is PAYING the school to get fired from a class project?! Instead of FIRING someone from a class project...shouldnt they be helping that person understand the job they were assigned?? NOPE not at OCB!

GOT A PROBLEM?? KEEP IT TO YOURSELF! I DARE you to ask Maggie for help or even ask her a question...she will rip you apart! In her eyes...you should know EVERYTHING! She flips out and screams and yells at everyone for the simplest things! We asked her for a splitter one time and she FLIPPED out because someone in a different class lost it or something?? But we got screamed at for it?! Oh and by the way...everything is YOUR fault...dont ever blame anything on the school, equipment, or instructor! Maggie will lie right to your face just like the rest of the administrators...its like their trained to lie and cover their a*s at all times... at $15,000 a person they should all be kissing our asses! Not treating us like peices of s**t!!!

INTERNSHIPS...the ONLY thing going for this school... is their list of mostly out of date and wrong number and unused email addresses they hand out to get an internship... if you find a right number in that pamphlet and get an internship...stick with it because thats your only hope of getting a job!! DO NOT DEPEND ON GARY TO GET YOU A JOB!!! Do as well as you can and really shine in your internship because thats what your going to need to get you that job!!! If you read this before you sign up for OCB...contact local radio stations and see if they are looking for interns...9 out of 10 times they dont care if you are in school or anything... get an internship and save yourself the $15,000!!

CONCLUSION: OCB is the biggest ripoff of all time! It is not worth anywhere close to $15,000... Its not even worth $5,000. Maybe if they had better instructors, up to date equipment, administrators who actually care, and ran that place like a REAL school...then I could see it being worth about $8,000. There is SOOOOO much more I could say and MY WHOLE CLASS could say! There is not ONE person in my class that feels this school is worth going to! EVERYONE regrets signing up and wasting their money! There have been talks about forming a class action lawsuit against the school...I would be all for it! This school needs to be evaluated and things need to change! When you have an entire school full of students that feel like their getting ripped off and lied to...theres definatly a problem! OCB talks down 4 year colleges all the time... I dont see why! If I could go back in time and take my 15k elsewhere I would go to a 4 year college instead! DONT LISTEN TO ALL THE LIES WHEN THEIR TALKING YOU IN TO SIGNING UP!! IT IS NOT WORTH IT!!!! TAKE YOUR MONEY TO A 4 YEAR COLLEGE!
