On a recent relocation to Madison Alabama from San Gabriel California, my wife and I hired The People Movers to relocate our belongings. With the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval we thought that this would be a good company to deal with, man were we wrong!

The first thing we did, of course, was to pay for the move in full. We thought that this would expidite the move, wrong! Our personal belongings were supposed to be shipped with in 7 to 14 days, this did not happen. In fact they put our belongings in storage, without our permission, and did not contact us. After being three week beyond the contracts latest delivery date, we finnally recieved our items. This is where the nightmare begins.

Boxes that said fragile on them, were crushed. My 2 year old daughters bed was totally destroyed, my bicycle was riden by some one covered in mud and disassembled! My beds, 1 queen and 4 twins were not boxed (although we did pay for this service) they were stained with grease and ripped. Boxes that were taped, were untaped and pilfered through, items were missing, furniture was broken, including an antique hutch. The boxes, that were all brand new when we put them on the truck, looked as if someone had used them in a car stunt as a landing pad. 100 yr old china was stress fractured and broken (none of which can be replaced. A lazy boy chair that was brand new, was unwrapped and stained with oil, as well as the couch. My 32 inch TV was in a TV box, the box had a forklift hole in it (it did have fragile TV printed on the box). We have not even opened half of the boxes as of yet, now the actual moving company wants reciepts for everything, which is absurd.

The driver that delivered our personal items was wonderfull, he call his company, which is helping the best that they can (Wheaton Movers) and told them of the destruction of our property. He had took a second inventory of our items when he loaded them from The People Movers "storage" facility (a broken down tractor/trailer and soe wooden crates), and wrote down all of the damage to our property. This inventory was quite different than the one that was taken when they picked up our belongings from our house in San Gabriel.

The gross negligence of The People Movers was incredible. Wheaton Movers, the actual company that delivered our items, has been outstanding in helping us with everything, even though they did not cause the damage! What every happened to "a job worth doing is worth doing well"? The People Movers is by far the worst company that I have ever dealt with.
