I bought Roomstore furniture totaling a little over $5000.00 in November '02 and delivered December 3rd 2002. We also purchased the fabric and woodcare warranties based on my experience in the past with unscrupulous vendors and b/c of the amount of purchase.

At the time of delivery parts were missing (which I was told would be ordered and delivered and still have not received over a year later) and the antiquing was quite abundant giving our cherrywood furniture an overall milkylook.

The roomstore came out to deal with the paste on the furniture and we thought that was that. Fastforward 4 months to April - Our endtable has a broken bracket, our hutch is difficult to open, the brackets used to hold in the hutch glass keep coming loose, putting at jeoporady our wedding china, and our dining room chairs have loose parts. So I do want any customer with a warranty would do...Call Roomstore...

Roomstore aggrees to our claim and schedules a workman to arrive in April. Now this is where is gets interesting....

We have to reschedule the visit and due to a mountain of personal reasons to which Roomstore states that "just call us when you are ready". We place a call on Dec. 5 2003, upon return from our honeymoon, and are told by roomstore (specifically Teri Karalles who apparantley runs the customer service dept. or at least that is what she claimed) that they will not send any tech as our furniture is out of warranty and we should have called two days earlier on Dec. 3rd. In spite of the fact that the claim was made AND DOCUMENTED earlier in April of 2003. Well within the warranty period.

Well I reveiewed the warranty they sent me and I quote - "The Roomstore warrants all merchandise we sell to be free of manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 1 year from the date of delivery, to the origianal purchaser and original delivery address."

Where in this warranty does it say anything about the fact that if you need to reschedule for an existing claim past the 1 year anniversary date of warranty period tough luck and have a great day and oh by the way don't forget to make your furniture payment or well screw you there too...

You know this could have been handled differently. This is exactly the kind of treatment that's got The Roomstore is the financial trouble it is in now.

I look forward to their response although I do not expect one.
