Ordered a wedding gown (Pronovia's Ideal total of over $1800). When the dress arrived in the shop, the quality was unacceptable for a brand new dress.

The beading was falling off the dress before I even tried it on, the dress had tears and damage to the lacing, the seams were of poor quality, and the sizing was wrong. In fact it looked like they had let other people try on my dress.

This issue was brought to the attention of the manager and eventually the owner. They suggested that I had gained weight and that is why it did not fit right. And that the dress was "only" $1800 and not a couture dress.

As my wedding date is to close to return the dress to the maker, I have requested a full refund which they refuse to give. I have since then purchased a new wedding dress, from a different bridal store, as this one was unacceptable to wear. The measurements for the new dress were essentially the same as the previous measurements showing that I did not gain weight.

Please find a different wedding boutique to buy your dress from , or don't expect any type of customer service from this store if you do buy a dress from them. Also searching the BBB website shows this store had four other complaints just in the last couple of years. Weddings are stressful enough without having to find a new wedding dress on very short notice and losing a large chunk of you wedding budget to The Wedding Day because they will not stand behind there product.

Sounds like the common practice of trying to pass off samples

AUTHOR: Krystal - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, June 28, 2007

As a former employee of a Bridal shop who quit because of of bad business practices, I can tell you that this sounds ery familiar.

Pronovias IS a couture designer. They make very high quality dresses. In fact, most legitimate designers on the market...even lower end such as Mori Lee and Eden, make very high quality dresses that look well made.

It sounds to me like the store spent the money for your deposit or didn't order your dress in time and "cleaned up" the sample, attempting to pass it off as new. OR, they might have ordered a knock off from one of the many asian companies that make fakes of designer gowns.

Either way, you were taken. For that amount of money, I would notify your bank and credit card company that you paid for services that were not recieved.
