On 11/6/04 we purchased a couple of appliances at Appliance Connection Inc., 951 E.233st. Bronx, N.Y. 10466. The appliances were delivered on 11/11/04 and we didn't move into the house until 12/15/04, so nothing was used until after that date. Among the appliances purchased was a Thermador 6 burner Professional Kitchen Range, Mod. PGR366ZS with Backsplash (we were told it was a floor model, on the floor for only about 8 months, but still carried a full manufacturers warranty) and a Zephyr Ductless Range Hood which Fabian, the salesman said was sufficient for that range.

As soon as we started using the range it started buzzing. We notified Fabian at Appliance Connection and he arranged for service through Absolute Repair. The service man said the polarization of the house was wrong and therefore the service call was not covered under the warranty. He charged us $96.75 and said he padded the transformer to stop the noise. As soon as we used the range again the buzzing returned.

As for the Range Hood, when we used the range for a while, we started hearing a lot of vibration from it. We called Zephyr and they told us Appliance Connection should never have sold us that hood. It isn't sufficient for that range. We had it serviced under the warranty but were told any future service would not be covered because this range needs a 1200 CFM hood, and this was only 400 CFM. The serviceman showed us that the fan and filters melted and nearly caught fire!

My wife kept complaining to me about finding pieces of cotton on the floor in front of the range and inside the oven. When she showed a piece of it to me I realized it was FIBERGLASS. My wife opened the oven door while it was on and the FIBERGLASS dust from the INSULATION blew into her eyes irritating them for 4 days. We notified Appliance Connection and were told to contact Thermador. We contacted Thermador and they sent a service technician from Appliance Doctor to check the range.

The service tech. told us the range needs a TRANSFORMER, a SPARK BOX and BOTH SIMMER BURNERS and he said DON'T USE THIS OVEN... FIBERGLASS IS BLOWING ONTO THE FOOD. THIS OVEN CAN'T BE FIXED! THIS UNIT HAS TO BE SCRAPPED! We notified Thermador and were told IT IS NOT A HEALTH ISSUE TO EAT FIBERGLASS!!!

They told us that we had to deal with Appliance Connection, so we contacted them again. We made an appointment with owner (after several calls) and he was supposed to come to check the range on 7/8/05 but he didn't show up. We made another appointment and (after several more calls) he finally showed up. When we asked if he'd like to see the fiberglass blowing out of the oven, he said no, no, no, and stepped back from the range. We showed him chunks of the FIBERGLASS and he said he would contact Thermador and get back to us. He never did!

We took Appliance Connection to Small Claims Court and the Judge ruled we were suing the wrong party. We had to sue Thermador in Civil Court because they were out of state. We did so, ($225) and the Civil Court Judge told us we had to sue Thermador at their location, in California. We were referred to the California Bar Association where we got several phone numbers of attorneys there. Upon contacting them, they told us it would cost $10,000 to recoup $5,000.

The range igniters don't always work, so my wife uses matches to light the burners. After they are lit, then, the igniters start sparking. After a while they stop, only to start again in the middle of cooking. Once my wife didn't realize that one of the burners was still on and suddenly it lit with a small explosion and flare-up on the stove.

Something new has been added!!! Last night 9/15/06 at around 11:00 P.M., while my wife was putting away the dishes, she heard the range start sparking and heard a POOF, like the gas was on low and the range was trying to light, but it wasn't on! Now we have to worry about the range leaking gas while we're asleep, and maybe igniting in the middle of the night and blowing up our house!!!

If you have any suggestions as to how to deal with this problem, we would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
