The Hospitality Group (THG) is a "sports marketing" division of marcus evans. THG operates under the marcus evans umbrella and has many distinctive characteristics. Though, the one thing that they share in common is a common thread of animosity amongst their past employees.

The ripoff report has become such a popular place for ex-employees of ME to post their qualms that those postings now show up as the 3rd and 4th hits on a google search for marcus evans. Try it!

THG is not a career. Heck, it's not even a real job. Telemarketing people that you can't get on the phone is like talking to your dead grandmothers grave: you know she's there, you just can't get through to her. THG offers a strict telemarketing regime that starts at 8:00am until 5:00pm. In those 8 hours you are expected to make 150+ calls, reach 10-20 "decision-makers", and send out 2-4 proposals all for less than $10/per/hour after taxes.

At this company, you have absolutely no value until you sell something. I mean, you don't even get health insurance and benefits until your 6th month.
The reason for this is that 10 people are hired every week. Of those 10, 6 will quit or get fired in the first week. This is THG's tool to ensure that the people (sheep) who stayed are scared and submissive.

In the interview they will tell you that you should expect to make $100,000 in your first year and that their are continuous training programs. First off, if it sounds to ggod to be true, IT IS. Nobody has EVER made that much in their first year. The only people that do are the GM's weasels who inherit the accounts of people who quit or got fired. Keep this in mind...if you do manage to close a deal, get ready to be fired. Why would they keep you? That sale pays for your salary and nearly every other person who is on your team. If they fire you, the GM can take over the account because it's not like it matters to the client: all you are is a telemarketer and every telemarketer is the same.

The training programs are obvious and should not be used a selling point for the job when they interview you. EVERY company offers sales training. marcus evans might do more training but this is only because they prefer the youngest, most intellectually devoid people they can find, thus, it is harder to train them.

That being said, it IS possible to make a sale or two at the company, however is is not likely. It's even less likely that you would enjoy this job no matter how much money you make. Then there are the 30-something year olds who have been doing it for 5 years. They are so broke that they bum cigarettes, live with their mom, and can't even afford to think about building a life for themselves. Can you imagine trying to raise a family and support a wife on $1500/per/month and the off-chance that you MIGHT make a sale that month and that you have absolutely NO job security. Again, it is not a real job.

marcus evans and THG are blacklisted in corporate america. Every gatekeeper, at every major company knows not to transfer calls from THG telemarketers. Some companies are so overcalled that they threaten to go to the authorities if it persists. This forces THG telemarketers to use fake names and fake company names in order to try to get the right person on the phone. Many companies and even countries have taken legal action against marcus evans, but to no avail. Changing your company names help to keep you out of court i.e. Marcus Evans changed to marcus evans and SMG turned to THG.

They can hide from the law, but not from the Ripoff Report. With your help, THG and marcus evans will be further blacklisted by having these reprts at the top of the results page in google. This helps future employees to know what they are getting into before they waste time, money and self-worth on such an evil empire.

Until next time,
