I've bought a few things from ThredUp now. Sometimes I've been happy with the purchase. Often, I find the clothes don't fit me properly and I have to try to resell them on eBay. I've consistently seen that, when I'm trying to assess the current value of the cloting I've bought from them, it is ALWAYS far below the value ThredUp placed on it. I purchased a Dana Buchman sweater recently, for example, and ThredUp claimed its original price was $85. Being naive and not familiar with the brand, I assumed this would be a really nice sweater and bought it. When it didn't fit me, I looked online to get an idea of how much I should resell the sweater for, since no one online was interested in paying the $25 I paid for it and was asking in return. I found that, brand new, Dana Buchman doesn't even have anything higher than $25, most of it being more like $15. This is obviouly partially my fault, not doing any research before buying and assuming that more expensive = better. But ThredUp knows its customers are eager to hit the checkout button before someone else snags that supposed "steal" that they make you think you're getting. I'll stick with eBay from now on.
