Last December (2007) my family vacationed in Orlando, while there we viewed a Westgate resort this is how I stumbled upon Universal Timeshare sales. The sales rep from westgate that was trying to sell us the westgate gave us the number to Universal and said "oh they can sell your timeshare for you" ( we currently own a timeshare I want to sell)he said to "call them their great, they sell all they time" Apperently not!

So I took their number and called universal timeshare when we got home from FL. They wanted $1350.00 to list it. They said they would list it @ $35,000.00
I was in a little surprised but I guess I just didn't think to much of, it she said well you have a lot of points only 180,000 now 90,000 expire the end of Dec. 2008, I will roll over this years points which will again bring me back to 180,000.

So I spoke with the rep. my husband spoke with her and we were a little unsure because of the money up front but they said "oh it'll sell within 6 months" then we spoke with the verifications dept. they sent us a copy of the credit card paper to sign and the letter with my info half the info was spelled wrong street address and city.

The credit card transactions took place in late Dec.2007 , I called in March cause I hadn't heard from them. She said oh were advertising your property. She called me in April said someone was going to look at the property and then I continued to called her every few days the answer I would get is "well we haven't heard from the people they have their own financing." Then I would call in late April, now there having their big convention that they have every 3 years she tells me. They have this convention til June. Another phone call next week she tells me they extended the convention because it's so big so now it's til July. I asked her were are these conventions, she replies "in Orlando and Las Vegas and they have them every year "she says which I thought was very interesting because last time she said they had them every 3 years!

So now the last few calls I've made I asked her to please have someone call me because I need to sell my points before they expire at the end of the year
she says sure I'll have someone call you that was over 3 weeks ago. No one has called me. This phone number hasn't changed and they do have it because she has called. I did call my credit card company last week and they said to fax in a letter to dispute the charge they can't guantee I'll get my money back because it's been so long.

Universal Timeshare sales = Scam

AUTHOR: IsabellaP - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 23, 2013

I'm sorry to hear you got scammed, but the most important rule is always the same: Never pay an up-front fee in an effort to sell your Timeshare! Whether the fee is called an appraisal fee, a market analysis fee, a marketing fee, an advertising fee or some other type of fee, the result, historically, has been the same for all who have reported here about their experiences.  If it helps,  here you can find some helpful information about timeshare resale scams:

hope you're all having a great year so far

Skeptical

AUTHOR: skeptical not cynical - (Canada)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 22, 2013

I just got off the phone with a "representative" of Universal Timeshare Sales Associates, and I am very doubtful of their claims. Especially when I get a call out of the blue saying that they "have a buyer" for my unit, when I have never expressed in wanting to sell it.  Not surprising at all, but the guy that called (this was a call back from a previous conversation, I wanted to play with them and string them along), said that they agreed to pay the price of $18,000, which is how much we paid for it 18 years ago, and come to find out you can use sites like Red Weeks and such to get them much much cheaper.

Young and foolish to pay as much as we did back then, however, we did, and we have been able to trade and use our week at lots of different locations.  Would we have been further ahead to put that $18000 in a mutual fund and draw on it to buy cheaper weeks where we want, at the time we want without the typical restriction, most definitely.  There you go, free advice paid for by my "stupid tax".

anyhow I have read some of the above comments and agree that the wording sounds like broken English and quite likely done by people working for the company.  Thank you to the 2 comments that seem legit, the guy I talked to didn't talk about listing the property, he said he had a buyer and they had to move quickly as the offer expires in 2 days...... right! Never seen
that technique before.

If it smells like a rat, it is probably a rat.

Total Scam

AUTHOR: Linda - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 19, 2012

By reading the above rebuttals you can see that they are all in the same broken English...same as the people you get at their place of business. I highly doubt that the so called teacher would have a job if she could not speak or spell correctly. In any case I called this company after speaking to one of my timeshare owners concern with possibly being ripped off by this company. I work for a major timeshare company upgrading their vacation programs.  Unfortunately I hear all day long how our owners are being scammed out of $1000's.

I was given the phone number of Universal Timeshare Sales Associates by one of my customers today after she told me of her experience with this company. She  was told they had a buyer who was willing to pay $21,000 for her timeshare. Considering she paid $11,000 for it at retail, I knew this was rediculous. She had paid them approximately $1000 for the "service".

I can only say that it took less than a minute to figure out that they were crooks. They told me that their service fees were $1800 for atorney, clerical, etc. The man took a few minutes to look in his database to see if he had any buyers for my timeshare. Low and behold he did and they were willing to pay $18, 200 for 105,000 points. Because mine was 126,000 points I should expect to get approximately $22,000. Amazing considering I only paid $2,000 in 2008 as a resale. I was trying to negotiate the upfront fees and said why not take it from the proceeds of the sale.  The man was getting his manager when I had to take another call. He tried to call me 4 times while I was on one phone call.

Please do not give anyone any $$ upfront to sell your timeshare...these are all scams. If you have already been scammed please report it to BBB and the authorities for that state. Only a licenced real estate broker in the state of your property can legally sell your timeshare.

Universal Timeshare SA Team is Authentic

AUTHOR: Harris Boesinger - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, November 03, 2011

Well I have been flabbergasted by the negative comments on Universal timeshare SA which I believe have been initiated by the envious competition from different companies. I personally had very good experience with Universal timeshare Sales associate which is why I recommended them to couple of my friends and they too had very positive experience with this company. Off
course they asked for upfront payment which I guess anybody could sacrifice for a good rate and that too above the market rate. I too was very apprehensive about their strategy and reviews but when I checked their real references it turned out to be completely new story. I have spoken with Mike about the my unit and he very well explained me the whole process since I was relatively a new player the Timeshare Market. The buying process was seamless despite taking some time. Well I had the money the my hand as promised all thanks to Universal timeshare Sales associate. Hope this suffice everything about this company.

Universal Timeshare Sales Rebuttal to Any complaints Orlando Florida

This message is to address our any complaints thus far as it regards to Universal Timeshare, our company. First of all, Please understand that no company can satisfy every person/ client we encounter. Where ever there is a business throughout the World, there is alwasy going to be complaints, until the end of time!! We encounter several hundred clients each and every day and do our very best to work very diligently for our customers than anyone could ever imagine. We work sometimes around the clock satisfying any and all inquiries into the sales as well as the rentals of properties placed in our possession . In regards to the client in Maryland expecting her property to be sold in 2 weeks or less, we never promise anyone their property will sell in that short length of time . NO PROPERTY can sell and close within 2 weeks. I do believe this client had very high expectations and has exaggerated her claim just a bit. Each of our clients are very well taken care of and our contract states what our company can and will do for our clients. It is just unfortunate that this client mis understood her contract. Our company does not give our clients the run around, we handle every client with kid gloves because we care about our reputation and getting the job done our clients expect is our number one business!

Sincerely

Management
