Time Warner Cable $4000 installation fee Corbin Nationwide

We wanted cable installed at our house and called Time Warner to have it installed. They wanted $4000 to run the cable aproximately 350 foot from the pole at the bottom of our drive way to our house. What's really strange about this redicous fee is that the installer claims that they are doing it at cost. Well, RG-11 cable is only $200 for 1000ft online and they are trying to rip me off. I offered $2000 and they turned down my offer, so I really don't know what to do.

There are other costs involved

My father had a local company install RG-6 cable (wrong size) at the time we built the house and I know there's a lot of work involved. The $200 price didn't cover the conduit, employees, and the necessary equipment to get it properly installed and I don't expect them to do it for nothing.

I didn't say that it would cost $200.00 to install cable at my house. I simply said that there was a site online that had 1000 ft of RG-11 cable for $200 and that it wouldn't cost $4000 to install the cable. That's why I offered them $2000, and I actually regret making the post in a bout of frustration. They are not doing the job at cost like they claim, and while I'm not entirely sure about our local license agreement, most companies have limits on what they can charge up to 200 ft, so I'm essentially paying $4000 to have 150 ft of cable.

If you could find almost 3 times as much cable as you needed for only $200, why would you offer them $2000?

Sorry but YOU have no idea what you are typing about. It cost me $750 to run cable across a dirt road approximately 15 ft to my property. They are NOT trying to rip YOU off. YOU are a bit self entitled there aren't you. Ok so YOU figured out the cost of the SUPPLIES, but you FAIL to acknowledge the OTHER costs involved. Lets CONVENIENTLY forget all the permits and equiptment involved. No MUCH better to try and play the victim then admit that YOU HAVE NO IDEA!!!! And lets not forget that the people involved are going to want to be PAID for digging a trench for YOU to have cable. I swear, its like stupid follows you people around like a lost puppy. Instead of paying 4k for the installation just get Dish or DirecTv. And do us all a favor, maybe research what you have no idea on BEFORE you make a post. Its going to save you some embarrassment. You just cant bury a piece of cable in the ground without it rotting. So you have to have that wire protected by pipe. Which means that you have to dig a trench deep enough to protect that wire and pipe, roughly 3 1/2 ft deep. Which is going to require a piece of heavy machinery to do THAT job. Before ANY digging goes on, a surveyor has to come out and ensure that there are no buried utility lines. See there is MUCH more then your opening costs of 1000ft of cable.
