On 9/26/2006 I contacted Time Warner Cable to discuss what they are offering former Adelphia customers for Internet and Cable TV services. From this call I have two complaints

1) Regarding Cable TV pricing. During the convesation with TWC representative Mandy I was given TWC pricing. I indicated that the package pricing that I have carried forward from Adelphia was a much better pricing package then what TWC was offering me so it would be a hard decision to move to TWC pricing.

Mandy informed me that if by 12/1/06 I hadn't made a decision on a TWC package that I would automatically be transferred into a TWC that was at least equivalent to what I had at TWC level pricing. I pay $71 and TWC equivalent is around $90. I informed Mandy that TWC FAQ website regarding the transition and in printed material I received indicated the following:

Packages
Will there be new packages available?
Yes! Time Warner Cable offers the best value in entertainment. New packages are available beginning September 18, 2006. Call 888-TW-CABLE (888-892-2253) to order.
Am I able to keep my current pricing package?
Absolutely. If you prefer to keep the same pricing package that you had with Adelphia or Comcast, that's fine with us. There may be some minor changes (i.e. different channel numbers, new or moved channels) but your package will remain largely unchanged.

Please note, once you decide to change to a TWC package, we will be unable to switch you back to your prior Adelphia or Comcast package. However, we think you'll be happy with what we offer.

Mandy informed me that regardless of what was being indicated what she informed me still held true and that I would be transferred into TWC pricing effective 12/1/06.

Second Complaint
I asked Mandy if I were to select TWC pricing package as indicated on their website as first service at $44.95 and second selected service at ($44.95 - $5.00) $39.95 that I would want my Internet service as first choice at $44.95 and Cable as second choice at $39.95. I was told that was not possible and that if I had Cable and Internet that Cable would be first billed at 44.95.

I again indicated that this was not be documented on their website and that it just indicates pick first service then second service as indicated above.I was again told this was TWC policy and she couldn't change it.

In both cases TWC is acting in a fradulent manner. They are showing one thing on their website and information sent in mailings and then indicating another when talking to their customer service representatives.

Time Warner Los Angeles still at it

AUTHOR: David - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, October 09, 2006

First, I contacted City of Los Angeles on 10/3/06 and they indicated they had an active case for me against TWC. They informed me they contacted TWC and awaiting response. As of 9/9/96 still nothing.

Second, just got my online bill and TWC removed a special promotional package pricing discount. Contact customer service and it took 20 minutes to get through. They claim my package was good for only 3 months while Adelphia told me when they gave it to me it was good for 6 months. Not going to go though all the hoopla for $10.

Now, just waiting to hear how City of LA deals with TWC deceptive advertising as noted previously.

Time Warner

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 29, 2006

I also have concerns about the change over from Adelphia to Time Warner. Originally I understood that Comcast was going to take over Adelphia and I was very happy.

Comcast in our area was actually lower priced then Adelphia and was doing an excellent job. At the last minute we were told that Time Warner had taken over and as of 10/1/06 all of our emails would be changed to Roadrunner.com instead of Adelphia.com. (this has now been delayed until 10/6/06).

Meanwhile we have experienced some real bad connection problems to the internet via the cable modum. Today for instance we were out of connection all day. In addition I have found that some of my older programs seem to run much slower on Roadrunner(Time Warner) then they did on Adelphia.

I for one and going to watch what happens with your complaint in Los Angeles. If it is anything like the problem we are having up here then I will probably bring it to the attention of our City and State people also. Good Job.

update: Time Warner Cable billing complaint Los Angeles

AUTHOR: David - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 29, 2006

This is my communications with the City of Los Angeles Information Technology Department which regulates TWC in Los Angeles

Update to complaint "Billing complaint against TWC for unfair billing practice against former Adelphia Customers"

I received a call from a TWC representative today to address the issue of my complaint that I filed with the City of Los Angeles Information Technology division.

The complaint was not resolved.

The TWC representative response to my indication that TWC mailing and Website indicate that following:

"Am I able to keep my current pricing package?

However, we think you'll be happy with what we offer."

I was again told by the TWC representative that if I have not selected a TWC pricing package by December 1st, 2006 that I would automatically be converted to the TWC pricing package closet to what I already have even if the price goes up. I was told that it is the perogitive of the Cable company to change my package and their pricing at ANY TIME. I was told to call in December and they could offer a short-term 6 month long incentive to lower my cost but that after 6 months my cost would go up if I did not call back. I indicated that this was unaceptabe due to what had been communicated to me via mailings and on the TWC website. The representative apologized but said he could do anything about it.

I again reiterate my complaint against TWC for unfair billing practices against former adelphia company and this should include deceptive advertising and misleading communications to former Adelphia custoemrs about what is actually happening to what they pay.

Since TWC won't properly address this issue I ask that the City of Los Angeles investigate this.

Additionally, I asked the representative to e-mail me his contact information and he never did.
