I moved to a new place on Nov. 1, 2009. When I called to transfer service to my new address I was told it was not possible because I still owed money. A few days after that, I paid the amount owed and called back to schedule an appointment for transferring my service. The service was not transferred till Nov. 11, 2009. TW is charging me for service for those 10 days that I was not able to access the service. They are forcing customers to keep their service on yet the customer is unable to use the services provided. I have contacted them and was unable to resolve the issue.


I asked them to cancel my service as a result and was told that the service would not be cancelled until I return the equipment. This is further gouging the customer. They are now forcing me to pay for service when I don't want it any longer. I think they have every right to charge me for the equipment leasing until it is turned in, but they should not be allowed to charge for the cable and internet services. They can cut those off from the office without the equipment being returned. If I never returned the equipment, they could per sue me through a collections company for the total amount of the equipment. This is what Comcast did when I had their services.


TW has a monopoly in my area and they are my only choice for a cable provider, which really is another amoral act altogether as they know that I have no other real options and have to deal with their policies.


My experience with TW has been horrible. The techs are horribly trained and asked me for help when connecting my service previously. The tech also was at my house for a abysmal 4.5 hours before I asked him to leave so I could finish it myself. Most of the time the tech was on his cell phone talking about how TW just instituted a new policy for them that they can't leave a service call till it is solved. This motivated him to do nothing for 4.5 hours and say to his friend on the phone, "I don't care if I only have two calls a day. They can't fire me." The dvr service is horrible. It takes forever to load the guide or your recorded shows list. You can only find shows to record 3 days in advance. And the dvr itself is always overheating and constantly turning itself on and off while trying to connect to the wrong video source (i.e. HDMI) when I don't have it hooked up that way.
