I bought my timeshare while vacationing in Orlando,Florida back in 1998. A year later, I became terminally ill and didn't travel anymore. After researching, I put my timeshare in the "inventory" with Timeshares By Owner in July 20,2006. We chose to rent out the weeks we had in RCI, and sell it at the same time as well. They suggested we start the sales price at $16,900 negotiable. We were told that it would probably be "gone" in about 1 MONTH! Needless to say, after paying them $998, our property was finally sold,(for only $14,821.04) but it took over 2 MONTHS!
Though they did help me, I was disappointed that it took longer than what they said!

Timeshares are not an investment in any stretch of the imagination. You said they could "probably" sell it in one month , but it took ONLY two? Good heavens, do you realize how long timeshares generally take to sell normally? Having lived where you are living I know how OVER populated timeshares are. They are a dime a dozen. Thank your lucky stars that it sold in two months. Most stay on the market for years. I would take your money and run instead of complaining. The fact that they sold it in two MONTHS means they did something RIGHT!

You say that they said that it would probably sell within a month. You never said they promised or guaranteed it to sell. If you put your house or car up for sale with someone and they said it would probably sell within a month but took longer would you be filing a report online then too? I doubt it. Why bad mouth a company who did bring results. Yes the results took longer than expected but still you got results and if you recieved a check for less than what your selling price was posted at then that would be because you accepted that seeing as how they are a BY OWNER company. You handled the negotiating and acceptance as what to sell for and also if you owed the resort and back mortgage payments or maintance fees that would come out of that check as well.
I am not trying to be rude or impulsive. I just simply trying to say that if they performed on what they said they would do which is sell it why complain?

They said it would "probably" sell in "about" one month. They "suggested" you start at $16,900. YOU didn't have to take their suggestion. I guess you got $15,819, minus the sales commision of $998 or there abouts. So, if that's the case, you got within 10% of your asking price, give or take a few dollars. Look at all the posts on this site, from people who have gotten ripped off trying to sell their time shares. Either they've never sold or they haven't been represented by their seller. Sometimes there's just no pleasing some people. If you were trying to do these people some harm by this post, you have given them a pretty good referral in a backhand way, which may just be your purpose.
