After doing some hard research online and after reviewing  their advertisement of guaranteeing the skills and their unique technique I thought I found the best place to get tints done for my brand new fully loaded 2014 honda accord. Their website advertisement was very promising to me so without any doubt I made an appointment for 3/23/14 at 1pm even though there was auto window tinting shop literally across the street from my work place and they were only charging $120~$140 with same warranty as tint world when tint world was charging $329 original price but they offered me promotional price of $229 plus tax plus shop supply fee of $6.90??? but i did not care about the cost because i wanted my car to have tints installed by skilled technicians since it's new and i wanted my car to look nice. Honestly I thought they would really take care of my car with care since they charge so much money and also because of what they promised to do on their website. I was totally wrong and ever since that day i ended up going back there three times for bubbles, scratches, light gap and etc... . [continued below]....


I went there 5mins before my appointment and they pulled the car in 20mins later and my brother and i ended up staying there until 6:35pm. first they pulled the car out at 3pm or so and they guy name Nick gave me an invoice so i paid for it without inspecting their work. After paying for it i went out took a look at it and i saw scratches on rear window film so asked the the installer(Jonathan) what happened and all he said was "well.. i cant babysit everyone here" (with attitude). I was not happy with it so they pulled the car back in and did it again. Finally around 6:30 they bring the car out  and i see my rear leather seats with bunch of black and red stains...Even before i made the appointment i made it clear with Mena to cover my leather seats because i do not want to have any issues. Even when i went in at 1pm i asked jonathan to cover the seats again and he said ok however i was ignored and it never happened. When i saw the stains I immediately got really mad and frustruated and i could'nt believe i paid $258 for this type of service. Whatever i had imagined by reading and seeing stuff on their website was totally false! so i started getting more mad. Few minutes later I see the installer Jonathan got in his benz rushed out of the parking lot by peeling off!?!? How can this happen at a place like this?? I guess he hated me for making him work over time...Idid not want to argue with them so i ended up leaving that place and they were closing the shop too.

Few days later after light car wash, i found lots of bubbles that have specs of dust stuck inside the film. I made an appointment again to get it done again. Same thing happened again few days later, I found more errors with other windows. I Found more scratches and bubbles. The third time these guys were tired of me already but i was explaining to them if there is an error, the job is not complete! However the manager Nick told me that the owner Mike said "this time it's take it or leave it kida deal" it still has hairline of light gap  and even though i could not approve the work they done?! I was getting frustruated again and getting too much stress from this place driving back and forth from skokie to bensenville, wasting gas and time when i can be at workmaking money. I brought this matter to the owners attention. Told him that his workers are very unprofessional, I even saw them drinking beer in the shop while they are working on cutomers cars, telling customerthat they cannot babysit other when he can simply fix the problem....I had very bad experience at this place. If they only charged me $140 like the other places i still would not go there ever again! All of their advertise is  false. How can they charge that much money and and does a job so amateur that i have to go back numerous of times and wipe my own leather seats with full of thick stains...

I did not want to even think about thhis place again and take this as a loss however, today coming back from dealership after oil change and carwash I found more than 10 visible bubbles with specs of dust stuck in passenger side window. So i called tint world and Mena picked up, as i was explaining what is going on she hangs up. Itried to call back she kept hanging up. Few minutes later the owner Mike calls me saying that he did whatever he can do satisfy me. I tried to explain to him about the bubbles but he didn't take it too seriously. I just couldn't understand that it's ok for me to waste my precious time and money for not being at work?? He did not understand that by me going there to keep fixing their mistakes numerous of times i had to sacrifice alot too. He doesn't realize that i'm sacrficing my time, money and strength because of their unprofessionalism... So to keep this short i took a picture of the bubbles and sent it to him even though i see other window tint is slanted, not intstalled evenly...I tolm to just take the tint off and give my money back but he said if he does not approve this to be a big problem he won't give my money back. $258 is not small money to throw away and plus i could have been to other place that could have gave me better installation and also cost more than $100 cheaper... i had tint on 2 of my previous cars but i neverhad this kind of problems. These guys are lying just to get the customers in. I really hope the justice can prove them wrong!!!

I truly wanted to work with the owner and update positive review for the sake of the franchise and the owner however, because of his selfishness I possibly cannot update positive review for tint world. Soon after I filed a report on rip off report.com I called the tint world to see if the owner received the pictures I sent. I sent him several pictures that showed multiple bubbles and dust that are still visible on two other windows. Ever since the first day almost 6hr installation I went back there two more time for scratches and visible bubbles. This should have been thoroughly inspected by the trained installing technicians before releasing the car...

 So I spoke with the owner(Mike) on the phone to resolve this ongoing problem with the tints then he told me that I am harassing him and the tint world franchise by posting bad reviews on yelp and rip off report.com and he also told me that he wanted to record our conversation for the record so I gave him the consent since the reports and reviews I posted did not contain any false statements. I honestly felt that I was the one getting harassed and threatened by him. He stated that he doesn't take such matter like this lightly. He also said unlike the others, he pursues with matters like this and needed something in writing to keep himself protected from this I guess...

I don't exactly know when the recording started or stopped but he asked me some questions like "are you the real person who posted reviews on yelp and rip off report.com?" so I replied "yes". Shortly after I explained my personal situation to him how I cannot be losing money and time anymore by keep going back there during work time and I work long hours and etc... I also tried to arrange a good time to meet with him so he can physically see the remaining bubbles( more than ten tiny bubbles  with specs of dust inside) on two side of the windows but he had schedules for Easter.

So I decided to go back there for the fourth time including the first initial installation. I always had this back of my head every time I had to arrange my schedule to take my car back there. Shouldn't they have thoroughly inspect their work after finishing the installation since I am not professional at this or shouldn't they have done this right from the beginning or the second time when I went back??

So during the weekend I asked my co-worker to fill my spot while I'm gone to fix the problem at tint world and he said it wouldn't be a good idea because we are being monitored by cameras from the headquarter of the company. So Monday the owner of tint world calls me twice in the morning around 8 close to 9am, He called twice but I answered the second time and I explained to him that I tried my hardest to take the time off to go there again but because of the monitoring situation at work and I couldn't afford to lose my job by going there. I even asked him if he can come to my work to see the bubbles but he was busy again.

So I told him, because of the great stress and hassle I'm going through I decided to get unprofessionally installed tints off and get it reinstalled at Ogden auto window tinting place across the street from my work for $100.00 for 4 side windows and keep the rear tint on. Tint world already took the rear tint off 2 times once because of the scratch and other time the installer messed up and had to do it again. So I didn't want to mess up the rear defroster by taking it off again.

Soon as I told mike(tint world owner) about Ogden auto tint then he quickly degraded their skills and their film material. He also mentioned other places besides his shop uses totally different type of film by saying it will turn purple within a year or so and other places use blades ...and on and on...

He then told me to try them out and he said he will issue warranty for the films taken off if I have the Ogden auto tint take it off and send it back. So I dropped off my car at Ogden auto tint on the way to work and it was done in about 3hrs or so. Believe it or not I was 200% satisfied!!! I couldn't believe a $100 job came out flawless I mean near perfection!!! and they didn't charge me for taking the old film off!

Sent the films through priority mail, days later I receive a check for $100 when I paid $258 for all windows... I couldn't believe my eyes.... How did they come up with this amount anyway??!! So    I sent an e-mail to Mike Mayo(owner of tint world) and asked him about the check but I had no prompt reply that day. Instead, I get a d**n text message at 4:50AM!!!! Who sends text message to your customer at 4:50AM???? I don't even send text messages to my close friends!!!

He has done this before when I first wrote bad review about his business on yelp soon after first visit. It was on my day off when he called me twice, consecutively and I ended up answering it. It was about the review I wrote on yelp. He wanted to resolve the problem so I immediately deleted the post thinking the owner will take care of the problem and I was kind of  relieved...But every time I go there and come back I saw more things to point out on other windows! This comes from poor inspection before releasing customers car!! They almost blamed me for not checking thoroughly before I left... " You said everything was fine last time"

 Anyways, on 4/29/14. This time he texts me saying we only agreed to give refund on two side windows only. As much as he explained to me how other places use low quality films and it will turn purple in no time, how can he let a customer to drive around with different type tints on which can possibly turn purple?!! then I would have different color tints on my brand new car. I was greatly disappointed by his mentality and it was agonizingly stressful! For the owner, It's totally ok for the customer to drive his new vehicle around with two different types of tints on and doesn't even try to compensate for any of my time, money and effort that was put in...

By me returning four films I should've gotten a refund for four films instead of two. It is a total RIP OFF!!! He simply thinks my time is not precious enough. He doesn't care how my car looks. my car is not valuable enough so he doesn't care if I have different type of films! I never expected this type of action coming out of a franchise or professionals??? I don't know about other customers but I clearly had issues with the tints they installed on my car!  

I was totally ignored ... lady even hung up the phone and did not answer again while I was explaining about the latest issues I had. I was put through a lot of stress... I paid $258.00,invested my time, gas and money to go back. Also because of the error and because they didn't finish their job as they promised I ended up using more money to get tints reinstalled.

 I am not happy, actually I feel raged because of the way I was being treated and for what I went through. I purposely chose to go to tint world even though there even though it was way more expensive even though there was a tinting place right across the street from my work. I trusted their service and skills...

No customers out there shouldn't have to experience this type of ordeal especially when customers expect to get better service and superior installation on their valuable vehicles.

To keep this long complaint short I would like to summarize my complaints as written below. These are the problems I've dealt with within a month.

-putting pressure and ask to record phone conversation-

-calling the cell phone consecutively on my day off after hard- working  week.

-Texting at 4:50 AM?? when i wrote him an e-mail the day before. This is invading privacy and harassment!!-

Please read carefully and I truly hope other customers don't have to go through what I went through...

1. 1st time I went there I waited almost 6hrs when they said 2~3 hours.

2. My brother and I saw one installer drinking beer in a green bottle inside the shop.

3. Lady promised me when making 1st. appointment to cover rear leather seats, it was never done and had black stains in many places which I had to clean!

4. They released my car without thorough inspection which caused me to go back numerous of times.

5. Had to go back two more times during my work hours wasting gas, time and money when I should be making money at work.

6. Found 3~4in. scratch on driver's side window, they denied of admitting because they claim they don't use it and they were blaming the dealership where I purchased the car from. Scratch that big I would have noticed it before but trusted their words anyway. Couple of days ago 5/1/14 I come to find out on Google review of this place and there is another person with similar situation as me. He found a scratch on his navigation screen and also found a blade laying around!! If you look up tint world Bensenville on Google, you will see the review.

7. Owner called me on my day off twice consecutively while I'm still resting in the morning for yelp review I put on after first visit.

8. I returned 4 films that was on the side windows and he only gave me   $100 refund from $258 I spent.

9. Calling me consecutively on my personal cell phone for bad review on yelp.

10. Asked me to record phone conversation, he said because I posted bad reviews and that's harassing. It is not when it's true!

11. Texting me at 4:50AM??? when I e-mailed him day before.

12. He(mike) was quick to call or ask about the reports or bad reviews when my problem wasn't getting resolved.                 

13. When I told the owner mike that I would dispute the transaction with my bank, then he said that he had my signature so i will not be able to make charge dispute. Which is not true... Even with a signature customers can make disputes and get their money back if the job wasn't done correctly or as they have promised.

14. There was an error on the invoice as well. When they installed 35% film, they typed 18% so I also brought this to owners attention and he said he heard the recording of my voice and I was indecisive of what shade film to get so that's why they made a mistake on the invoice? ISN'T VOICE RECORDING ILLEGAL?? without any notice or any consent??? Aren't customers have the rights to choose or make changes only if the job hasn't started yet??

I swear I did not see any notices or signs of audio surveillance. If the owner reads this report now he will put a notice of voice surveillance inside the store in a heartbeat. So childish... what if I get pulled over and had to prove to police the darkness of the tint?? police officer would have wrote me a ticket and it would not be tint world's fault right?? and who gave them the consent to record customers voice anyway? isn't that violating federal law?? 

I am not really concerned about the money I lost...It's just that I have invested all my time, energy, jeopardizing my reputation at work and unimaginable stress is what I regret the most. When a small humble tinting place could have satisfied me at $120 for all windows and without any stress...
