Tire Plus Total Car Care The bad gasket Lithia Spring Georgia

Aside from bad coffee and the nasty men room, this is not to discourage anyone from doing business with Tires Plus. Quite frankly, I want everybody to experience what we went through so that they will have first-hand knowledge.

After seeing quarter-size leaks in my driveway, I had my wife take the car to Tires Plus. She told the shop the car had a bad 'head gasket'. I had told my wife about leaking gaskets. When asked what was wrong with the car, she said 'the head gasket was bad'. Making a flash-inspection, they had a good laugh that it wasn't the head gasket, but the problem was another expensive (valve cover) gasket leak. In order to repair this $109.00 valve cover gasket, a number of other things must be repaired including another $132.00 upper intake gasket, ignition wires and $132.00 worth of spark tube/seals. Six hours later the total repair costed $664.00

For six hours, off-and-on I watched the worker hop between 3-4 other jobs like a rabit. He would work 10-15 minutes on each car then move on to another never finishing neither. In between cars, the poor man snacked and caught up on a little chit-chat.

Nevertheless, the car still leaked next day. At first, I figured it was fluid running off from where the repairs took place. I was wrong. Couple of days later my driveway had more leaks (plate-size now) than before the repairs.

Going back to the shop, I gave the person in charge a good tongue lashing only to have his shop-buddies to mean-ball me. Before leaving, I told him that Tires Plus have lost my business. Now the shop wants to make it right. Had they fixed the right leak the first time then there wouldn't have been a second.

After making another flash-inspection, the shop concluded that it was the transmission pan leaking. They would fix it free. I offered to pay, but it would be my last visit. The part costed less than $100.00 according to the report. I asked why didn't they do the $100.00 job first. They could not answer, but I know why: Silly rabit, tricks are for kids!
