Title max of Georgia D/B/A TiTLEBUCK Around February of this year I had moved out of my house and I was moving into another house so I can take out a loan on my Ford F-150 I went down to the Title Max and they wanted $2,500 they said they loan me $3,000 we started talking and hit the guy pulled up to the title and notice the title wasn't signed by the previous owner that I got the truck from and I thought he signed it but you didn't so the guy sitting behind a desk said it's no problem I'll sign the title I said can you do that is that legal I'm sure we do it all the time so he signed the title the guys are supposed to sign the title passed away in 09 so it's illegal for him to sign that title even though I did want the money but he sent the signed the title so we signed the title and then I start if I was paying the money on the title and I paid for a year and 9/8 months and I just had to get out of that vehicle so I traded it in on another vehicle and now I'm free of that but I think I got ripped off Stateboro Georgia

As I stated above in February of this year I was moving out of one home into another I couldn't afford the first home and I had a vehicle a 2006 Ford F150 XLT then I drove it was didn't have no lien against I went down to Title Max here in Statesboro and took out a loan to get in my new home and get bills paid and stuff started up and going I am disabled kidneys failed on me and I don't work I draw social security check so when I moved in my home I started receiving my social security check so I started paying the monthly payment which was anywhere from 3:55 to $5,400 a month to make the payment to hopefully get my truck back after a year and 8 months working online I couldn't afford the payment I mean I was just getting ripped off I finally figured it out I was just getting ripped off first of all the title got the title pawn guys that work there at the place he sign the back of the title or the owner was supposed to sign the owner couldn't sign because he passed away in 09 and I moved Statesboro and like I said took out a loan and I just couldn't pay for it so I finally traded it in on another vehicle to get out from under the loan and I was just totally ripped off and I think something should be done

Yes let's talk about fraud

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 05, 2016

Figuring that this happened exactly as you said then yes it is very likely that the loan company violated laws by signing the Title.

However, by my accounts you have been the accessory to one fraud, and actually commited additional cases of Fraud and broke at least one other actual law.

First of all in every state there is a legal requirement for you to transfer the title into your name within a certain amount of time(usually 10 days) of purchasing a car.  Failing to do that means you are actually driving illegally and could be subject to additional penalties.  Not to mention the fraud you are comitting with the Insurance companies by claiming it is your car.  If there is no proof that you were given permission to be driving the car you could be arrested for driving a stolen car.  Since he died it would be who ever is in charge of his Estate.  If they ever came back and said you don't have a right to the car, you would have been arrested.

Then the loan company may have signed the back of the title, but not only did you not report him you continued with the loan.  So you became an accessory to this fraud.

But then you took it one step further and became the person who comitted fraud by selling the truck.  As not only did you sell it when you don't have clear title to it.  As you sold the truck knowing that the title was illegally signed by the loan company and not the original owner.  If you sold the car with a lien on it that could also be illegal, as you can not legallly sell a car with a lien...hence the purpose of a lien.  Now, there are cases where some dealers will pay off the lien when you trade a car and just add that to the balance of a new loan which is actually standard.  But if it is any other case you could be in some legal trouble.
