I signed a contract with this company in 4/2010 to do my wedding on 10/9/2010.  About a month or so after signing I called to cancel the DJ.  (Note I gave them a $50 non refundable deposit.)  Tim Wood @ Tjandhooch informed me that I owed them for half of the bill even though I cancelled 4 months in advance.  I told him that was crazy and it was misleading putting a non-refundable deposit down yet in the very fine print its states if you cancel you are liable for half.  He never once mentioned it when we signed he just wanted us to hurry up and sign it.  Needless to say I paid him because he threatened to take me to court if I didnt.  Also Tim was sure to give me reminder phone calls to ask when he was going to get his money.

This was not fair I gave him ample time to rebook someone else in my slot and he did yet I still had to pay half for nothing.  Do not sign a contract with them you will regret it I promise.

Loved TJ and Hooch!!!

AUTHOR: Cheryl - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, February 17, 2013

I hired TJ and Hooch for last night (Feb 16th) for my fiance's surprise 50th birthday party. We had a blast!!! This was a crowd from a 10yr old to 80,....and they had everyone dancing, yes even the 80 year old!

I have received tons of phone calls and texts today, telling me how much fun hey had at the party. These guys are fantastic! They played every song we requested, made sure to NOT play the songs I told them not to. Kept to our genre of old school/motown/fun dance music.

Friends and family members wanted their cards. Because they were so good.

I am in no way related to this company, but I am now a huge fan. The next time I need a DJ, I know who to call!

I felt like they conducted their business in a professional way. Zero complaints!

TJ And Hooch - Great Job!! Highly Recommend !!

AUTHOR: Libby B - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, September 16, 2012

My Daughter's Wedding was August 11.   Tim and his crew were fantastic!   First off he supplied the sound system and music for my daughters wedding ceremony at the Indiana State House, and then moved to the Hotel where we had the reception and supplied the music for the reception.

I have to say he has a wide variety of music and kept EVERYONE involved.  He even had my 78 year old mother out there dancing.   Tim truly loves what he does and has a real gift for it.
I have had a number of positive comments and NOT one negative comment about the reception.

As a person, I found Tim to be honest and caring.   He was very interested in making sure that we were very happy with his service to us.    His prices are extremely reasonable for the amount of effort he puts into making sure that his work is top notch.

There are way more positive comments about TJ and Hooch Mobile DJ's than 1 complaint.  His contract is open and easy to read.  There is NO fine print.  The person who filed this complaint should have read their contract.  Plus he tells you this up front.    This is Tim's livelihood and if you book a show and don't follow through, you hurt him and his business, as well as other people who want to book him.

If there were a star rating-  TJ and Hooch Mobile DJ's would get a 5 out of 5 stars.    His services created cherished memories for my daughter and her new husband, as well as my family and friends.  Thank You Tim and Crew!

TJ and Hooch

AUTHOR: Victoria - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, April 26, 2012

I would totally indorse TJ and Hooch for there services.  My daughter hired them for her wedding reception, and without a doubt, TJ and Hooch made the occasion magical.  They were professional, courteous, friendly, and gave a top notch entertainment for all ages.

TJ and Hooch really were cutting edge.  The lights made it a party to remember.  They treated the bride and groom like royalty.

THere were games that everyone enjoyed, and I had not played them anywhere before-not the same old "chicken-dance"

I am not related to any of TJ and Hooch, nor is any other family member.  I would definitely have them for any festive occasion that required a great DJ.  They played a variety of music for all ages.

It is sad that one report would mark TJ and Hooch DJ's reputation- please don't let the one "bad apple" destroy this wonderful company.  Give them and call and give them and chance.

Fabulous DJ's

AUTHOR: DJ JAMMIN JAY - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, March 09, 2012
As a DJ myself and highly familiar with the TJ and Hooch company allow me to explain the truth.
Ignorance of not reading a contract thoroughly falls on the consumer. It is not common practice in any business to read the contract completely to the consumer.
Now, on to the logical rebuttal. We work on a first come-first serve basis. We book the date the consumer chooses and LOCK out any other requests. If the phone rings 5 minutes later for the same date..we cannot book that date, we have to send consumer number 2 on to another DJ. So if YOU cancel, we don't get to work that day (4 months out or not--most brides book a year or two in advance). NOW, we could also cover this by simply charging a 50%(typically $300-$500) non-refundable deposit (and yes some do). Yet we do everything in our power to make our services affordable (at the time of engagement), so the bride/groom can get everything planned in a timely manner and get their finances together.
Now, if the DJ gets a call (yes this happens too) and the consumer (#2) is willing to pay a higher rate for our services for the same date (cancel yours and book theirs-like bidding at an auction), would it be good business for us to call and cancel YOUR event??
Its simply insurance that we'll still get to eat that night. We don't have 6 figure incomes. No matter what your complaint--remember--there are always 2 sides to every story. I'm sure your feelings were still injured by the 'break up' but that was not TJ and Hooch's fault. He is simply trying to run a business and provide for his family.

TJ and Hooch Always the Best Choice!

AUTHOR: Consumer - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 31, 2012

I have been to many events and parties that TJ and Hooch have been the DJ for and every single one of them have been amazing.  I have been so impressed that I personally have hired them for a few of my own events (open house, birthdays).  At every show I have been to the dance floor has been packed and everyone has had a great time.

Tim Wood and his employees are outstanding at what they do, kind, helpful and honest.  It's hard for me to believe that someone could blame him for their own mistake.  If you go to TJ and Hooch's website under the contact section you can download a copy of the contract and it is clear to see the line mentioned in the same type size as the rest of the agreement, not in fine print or in any way deceptive.

Everyone should fully read a contract before they sign it but signing a contract with TJ and Hooch is something you will NEVER regret.  By signing a contract with them you will be guaranteed to have quality service, DJ's that truly know what they are doing, and everyone at your event will have an AMAZING time!

TJ and Hooch Mobile DJ

AUTHOR: kiwi - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, September 16, 2011

T.J. and Hooch were a hit!! They did the music for our outside wedding ceremony as well as our wedding reception. They traveled about 2 hours for my event from Indianapolis and were happy to do so! Tim was VERY helpful and knew exactly what he was doing!

i talked to him multiple times on the phone and through email and I felt very secure with him being in charge of the ceremony music and reception music....he knows his stuff! (as well as the other guys with him) The sound was fantastic for the outside ceremony...he brought 2 dj sets with him so that he could do both the ceremony and reception.

The reception ran very smoothly with the traditional things such as the announcing the parents, bridal party, and bride and groom, along with the cutting of the cake and toasts. I had so much fun dancing at the reception!!

My calves were burning for days because of dancing! I loved how T.J. and hooch got the crowd of 300 guests involved by teaching us line dances and other fun dances to get people out on the floor to dance and laugh and to have a great time!:)

I've had multiple people tell me (as well as to my parents and my husband's parents) that they absolutely LOVED the DJs and that they were great!! They were fun and very friendly and easy to work with.  I would be honored to have them do any other event of mine in the future! Thanks again T.J. and Hooch!

Extremenly Happy with TJ and Hooch

AUTHOR: Terri - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 19, 2011

We have used TJ and Hooch for two of our daughter's wedding receptions in the past 2 years and couldn't have been happier.  People are still talking about how good the DJ's were and how much fun they made it.

While it is too bad you lost your down-payment, most of the various vendor's we used had similar policies.

At our first event, there was an electrical problem with the venue site, and TJ couldn't play the last 1/2 hr.  They immediately offered us a refund or time added to our next event, which we settled on.

At the next event, it was them who remembered that they owed us extra time, not us, and they gave us more than what was owed.

Please don't hesitate to hire TJ and Hooch. Yes they have refund policies, just like anyone else. But once you are sure of your event date, hire them and you won't be disappointed.

It was the best decision we made for our events.

Made Christmas Bright

AUTHOR: David - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 26, 2011

Tim does an incredible job making your event special! He and Brent did our company Christmas party and we couldn't be happier. They communicated well leading up to the event, were on time, and engaged our group throughout the evening. I would highly recommend them for your get together.

owners comments in rebuttal

AUTHOR: Michael - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 27, 2010

Owner has taken it upon himself to refute the post I created for his business in which I stand by.  In his message he now states I cancelled and went to a cheaper dj.  That is completely false and not even verifable.  I had a small wedding and used my grandmothers radio for my wedding and reception.  very deceptive...

T.J. & Hooch Mobile D.J.'s

AUTHOR: Tim Wood - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, October 25, 2010

Hello, My name is Tim Wood and I own and operate a professional mobile d.j. business called T.J. & Hooch Mobile D.J.'s since 1976. I have been attacted by "ONE" individual that hired another D.J. at a cheaper rate 3 months after signing a contract with us. He booked this show with us 6 months in advance. My letter of agreement is simple, it is only 1 page and 3 paragraphs long. We require a $50.00 non-refundable deposit. Michael C. and his now wife Jennifer saw our show at a event for the Scrap Pink Womens Weekend Fundraiser in Franklin, Indiana. Michael C. came up and asked questions about booking our services for his upcoming reception in October of this year. We talked briefly about the event and I gave him a business card and asked him to contact me at a later date. On 04/29/10 Michael C. and Jennifer met me at my residence in Whiteland, Indiana and we talked about the event and all that would be offered for the package they wanted. We offer 2 different shows. One of the shows was booked that evening, "The one I run" and the other system hosted by my 2 other employees. The second show was the package that was agreed upon. Michael C. asked what the next step was, I filled out the "Letter Of Agreement" and handed it to Michael C. for him and Jennifer to look over. We talked a little more and I said to take it with them to look it over. Michael C. said "We will just put the deposit down right now if it is o.k. I said yes and that was it. They left and everything was good. Until I received a voicemail from Jennifer on Wednesday July 28, 2010 she informed me that they Michael C. and Jennifer were going to cancel the booking. When I finished listening to the message, I called Jennifer and asked what the reason was for the cancellation. She said that they just wanted to cancel the show. I then reminded Jennifer of the last paragraph that said, "If the show is, hereafter, cancelled for any reason, half of the remaining balance will be due immediately". She said that she was not aware of that, then handed the phone to Michael C. Michael asked me about what I had told Jennifer. I asked Michael, "Why are you cancelling"? He said that they were still getting married, but they had found another D.J.  I then repeated to Michael the last paragraph in the Letter of Agreement. And I asked if they had their copy or would they want me to send a copy to them. I told them what the balance was, and Michael said we do not have the cash right now, maybe in 3 to 4 weeks. I said that 1 month would be fine. And then I proceeded to tell Michael that I would take another $100.00 off of the 1/2 that was due. Michael then said what happens if we do not pay? I told him, I have only had 1 other client that backed out of the contract and gave them time to pay as well, they made no attemp to pay and I said I had to take them to small claims court to collect. 1 month had passed and I gave Michael a reminder call. He said that he would come over the next morning at 7:00a.m. to pay. We met in my driveway and he asked for a reciept, which I made one out for him. He handed over the balance due, and I told him Thank You. I hope everyting turns out o.k. with his reception and I held out my hand to shake his and he turned and walked back to his car and drove off. Over the past 34 years I have only had 2 or 3 situations like this and I will work with anyone, but when you loose a show that was booked and have turned down other business for that day, there has to be something in the agreement to protect my business. There is no small print in my contracts, it is 1 page with 3 paragraphs and is really simple to read. I am not mad I am just a little disappoined that someone can go onto a site like this and file a "FALSE" report and I have to defend myself. My reputation speaks for itself, we are professionals, and we give it everything we've got. Michael saw us and liked what he saw so he booked us, I didn't force anything on him. So anyone that reads this article, I will give a $50.00 discount on a regular priced 4 hour show if you mention you read this rebuttal. Michael / Jennifer I hope all is well and congratulations on your marriage and your new life together. I wish this could have been resolved before it came to this. May God Bless and Keep you both. Sincerely, Tim Wood  T.J. & Hooch Mobile D.J.'s.

THIS IS A SHAME

AUTHOR: Bob - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, October 25, 2010

People today amaze me. They sign a contract and then blame someone else for their stupidity. I personally have hired T J and Hooch Mobile DJ s for 4 different parties.
Our wedding and three birthdays. First off Tim Wood is one of the most stand-up people I have ever met. A true HONEST family man that has worked very hard all his life to bring entertainment to folks of all walks of life. There is not a better entertainer in the DJ business. I have been around alot of live bands and DJ s in my 52 years and you wont find on better. I just think its a shame that a man builds a business up for 30 some-odd years and someone has the nerve to discredit them by writing crap like this. I WILL ALSO MAKE YOU A PROMISE. TJ and Hooch (Tim Wood) True honest professionals.
