Recently my 2 tmobile phones (nokia 6190) show "roaming" on the display and a triangle appeared in the upper part of the screen. Called tm customer care and was told I have to purchase new phones as the old ones were disabled by tm in their system forcing anyone with an older good working phone to purchase a new one. Nice move by vstream to increase their revenue!! Unfortunately I work for them in a call center!

#5 UPDATE Employee

Actually this isn't accurate information

AUTHOR: Greg - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 30, 2004

What happened back in October is there was an upgrade put through the system in order to improve the network overall. The upgrade caused the older phone models to display roaming, but this didn't affect the service of the phone in any way whatsoever.

In order to make the roaming indicator go away, Yes, you would have to purchase a new phone, but this is in no way a required step. Your older phone will continue to function properly but display the roaming indicator. You are not roaming, especially as an employee you should be aware that the roaming isn't determined by what it says on the phone, rather what state you're located in and what plan you have.

As an employee your plan is nationwide so there would be no extra charges. I suggest you speak with your supervisor about your confusion rather than posting misinformation on a public site.

Thomas thanks for bringing this out in the light!!!

I had heard the rumors that T-Mobile was doing this but really wasnt sure if there was any substance to it. Now the public has been informed!!!

THIS IS A GREAT SHAME that T-Mobile would LOWER THEMSELVES to such levels as to SABOTAGE your phones IN ORDER TO SELL NEW ONES!!!

This is NO DIFFERENT than when an auto repair shop maybe like Jippy lube "does a little something here and a little something there" to your vehicle TO KEEP YOU COMING BACK FOR REPAIRS!!!

GET THE WORD OUT and make all the little salesdweebs CHOKE ON IT!!!

thank you,
