TNT Carports, Inc. AND Choice Metal Buildings DID NOT COMPLETE JOB, DOESN'T CARE, REPRESENTATIVE KIM BAD LANGUAGE AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE Mount Airy North Carolina

I have an INCOMPLETE GARAGE at my home. I CANNOT close my garage doors beacuse THERE ARE NO LATCHES and they are NOT SENDING ANYONE to finish the job. Following are are my details:

On March 30, 2013 (today is May 29) I was on an online search to have a metal garage built on site at my home. I found 3 companies online and proceeded to give each company the same specs for the garage I wanted: 18’ x 26’ x 8’ , A-frame roof, using 12 gauge for the frame, 2 garage doors, 1 walk in door and one Window.

I received quotes from each company. The next day on April 1st (my mistake-- never conduct business on April Fools Day) upon receiving my 3 quotes, one of the 3 companies, "Choice Metal Buildings" stepped up and said they would beat my lowest quote by 5%. Following (in quotes) is the exact email from Justin, their representative:

"Ok.  I’m gonna match that price and give you 5% off of that if I can get you to order today?  So your price is $3,614.75.  And delivery right now is about 3 weeks, weather permitting of course. 

 The building: 18’ x 26’ x 8’ – 12 Gauge Frame. Two 8’ x 7’ Garage Doors.  One 34” x 72” Walk in Door.  One Window.

I accepted his offer and gave him a $532.70 deposit to get the process started. Within 10 days the installers showed up, a subcontractor named TNT CARPORTS, INC. This confused me as I thought I purchased my garage from CHOICE METAL BUILDINGS-- Both companies are located in Mount Airy, NC and I wasn't told to expect TNT CARPORTS to build the garage.

Upon watching the workers put up most of the frame I noticed it WAS NOT THE A-FRAME I ORDERED. I told the workers to stop and proceeded to contact KIM, who is the TNT representative. I calmly explainecd to her what the problem was, that I DID NOT ORDER the rounded style roof they were putting up and she abruptly replied "You mean you don't want them to finish installing this garage?" I said "no, I would like the garage I paid for."

The kindness KIM was previously exhibiting completely went out the window at this point and she said, verbatim: "just put the builder back on the phone." I was floored because I thought we needed to work out what the next step was. Instead she talked to the builder and promptly told him to break everything back down and leave. I asked him what I was supposed to do and he said "they will contact me".

Well I ended up calling Kim back and being told I DID NOT purchase an A Frame and that I would have to call my "salesman" to straighten out. I called Justin Horne at CHOICE METAL BUILDINGS and was told it was a mix up on BOTH our parts even though I had my 3 quotes for an A Frame roof. I ended up PAYING EXTRA for the A Frame.

3 weeks later TNT CARPORTS showed up with the correct frame. The garage was built. Everything was finished EXCEPT the garage doors-- the builder told me they FORGOT TO PACK THE LATCHES! So, I have a 2 door garage which I cannot close. The builder informed me if I paid my balance and wrote on the invoice that I still need the garage door latches installed he PERSONALLY would come out within 2 DAYS and finish the job. BIG MISTAKE.

After a few days I called KIM at TNT CARPORTS to ask when they thought they could finish the job. She abrupty told me, and again this is verbatim: "I don't know". to this day I don't know why KIM was so upset-- I called Justin at CHOICE and basically his "hands are tied" he can only call TNT and ASK them to finish the job.

After a week I really wanted to start using my garage and offered to install the latches myself if they would just send me the latches. Well, after another week went by, they did. They purposefully sent THE WRONG LATCHES-- with NO HARDWARE. The outdated latches will not work with my garage doors. They did the most CHILDISH, SPITEFULL thing I ever dealt with: Just bubble-wrapped a couple of old latches, no envelope or pacakging, stuck a label on the bubble wrap and sent it to me.

2 MONTHS LATER I STILL CANNOT USE MY GARAGE. if you still want to do business with these 2 companies then be prepared to be made a fool of. Especially KIM at TNT CARPORTS who is really the worst customer service representative I have ever dealt with. Justin Horne and CHOICE METAL BUILDINGS are the weakest, can't do nothings, I've ever spoken to. These guys need to be out of business.
