Tobi Steamer - The Tobi - Tobi USA Does not send comlete order, does not followup with customer service complaint Torrance California

On 6/17/07 I saw an infomercial for a portable steamer for 4 payments of $29.95 plus $29.98 shipping and handling. They were offering as part of the order a free travel steamer, for which I had to pay the S&P of $13.95. I mainly wanted the travel steamer as I travel quite frequently for business and it's difficult to deal with clothing wrinkled from being packed in a suitcase, so I thought the travel steamer would be ideal for that. I placed an order for the steamer and confirmed with the operator that the travel steamer would be included as well. My credit card was charged the initial payment of $29.95 and the shipping and handling.

The steamer was shipped on 6/18/2007. However the travel steamer was not included in the package. I waited to see if it would be arrive in a separate box. Several weeks later I still had not received the travel steamer, I called customer service and told the operator that I had not yet received the travel steamer. He told me that they were on back order and that I should receive it within the first week of September. I asked why that had not been reflected on my invoice as there was no mention of the travel steamer on it. He didn't know. He assured me that I would be receiving it, and that it would be shipped with a separate invoice.

More than 100 days after purchase, I still have not received the travel steamer as promised and have receive no communication from Tobi. The company has already charged me the full amount of amount of the installments as well as the shipping and handling. I called the company today to inquire as to the status of the travel steamer. I did not give them my information on this call, I simply asked if the travel steamer was still included in the offer. I asked if I would receive the travel steamer at the same time as the regular steamer and the operator said that they would be shipped together. I feel as though this company is going to tell you anything to get your order. I may not ever receive the travel steamer, so as far as I am concerned, they are conducting themselves in a fraudulent manner.

I made this purchase on the basis of the complete package including the travel steamer as represented by the company on their infomercial, as well as what was told to me by the operator who took my order. The same infomercial still runs today and the same information is posted on their website. No effort has been made by the company to resolve this issue and no follow-up to my complaint has been received.

By the way, I did try and use the regular steamer to remove the wrinkles from some cotton shirts that have been difficult to iron in the past. Initially it did not produce any steam whatsoever, and I had to fiddle with the tank and attachments to get it to work. After that, it amazingly did not work near as well as it does in the TV demonstration. So I don't expect the travel steamer to work any better. But then I won't know since they never shipped it to me.
