I had NPC as my credit card processor for about 4 years.  My contract states that it was a 36 month agreement.  After about 42 or 43 months i switched to another company and called them to let them know that i needed to cancel because they were continuing to charge me a (ridiculous in itself) monthly "statement" fee.  On the phone they made no mention that there was any cancellation fee- nor should there be since i kept to the 36 month contract.  A couple months later I saw a $250 fee debited from my checking account that I didn't recognize- and there was no phone number! After a lot of time wasted trying to figure out who this was, it ended up being none other than NPC!

It also seems to me that since they are a processing company, the name it should show under should be NPC, but it didn't.  It showed up under another processing company's name: FNBO Direct.  Now why would a processing company have to process charges under a different name??

Credit card processing companies are some of the most foul and unethical people in the world.  This is another example of why I hope Americans will just stop using credit cards and only use debit cards.

NPC is an ISO of FNBO....

AUTHOR: CONCERNED CITIZEN - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, November 08, 2010

It is unfortunate that so many businesses that use merchant services, (transaction processing) don't actually read the merchant services contracts that they sign.  For example, the report indicates that they were ripped off due to a $250 fee.  The NPC contract clearly states that the contract is for 3 years and a 3 year automatic renewal.  Locking in the rates for 6 years.  If a merchant decides to cancel before the full 6 year contract period termination date, there is a standard cancellation fee to cancel early, called Early Termination Fee, $250 in this case.  This fee is debited from the merchant account.  NPC did not rip anyone off.

And for the FNBO question.  NPC is an ISO for FNBO.  FNBO is First National Bank of Omaha, a solid financial transaction processor in business since the 1800's.  Every merchant acquirer is required by Visa/Mastercard International to be in contract with a bank processor to complete the 'back-end' financial transaction processing for them.  It is standard in the financial transaction industry.

Most credit card processing ISOs I have spoken with make only fractions of pennies from the transactions.  It is the larger acquirers and banks and VISA/MASTERCARD INTERNATIONAL that make all the big money....   Many of the complaints that I have read about showing the industry to be unethical came from people who didn't read their contracts or have them reviewed by an attorney before they signed.  Later they were disgruntled when the circumstances didn't go their way.

It takes millions of dollars per year just to maintain the computer systems that handle the trillions of transactions that are processed each year.  Frankly, I am thankful we are not using only paper money to try to do business.  I think it is worth the cost to pay the rates necessary to be able to take credit and debit cards.  Especially on the internet!

POSTED: Saturday, April 17, 2010

We as Master Card and Visa Merchants across the US need to Unite.
Ripoff Report is a great site. But we need to join hands and take the fight to
these Low Life Con Artists!!!!! There is no doubt what they are doing. Just like our
Men and Women are taking the fight to the Terrorists. We need to ban together and
bring them before the legal authority, that can shut them down, and put these criminals in jail. I intend to proceed with some initial steps to start the ball rolling. Please lets unite!!!!!
