My secretary received a phone call from someone who identified himself as "Don Johnson". Mr Johnson informed her that our firm had placed an order for two toner cartridges in December that was only partially filled. His company now had the second cartridge and wanted to send it, but just needed her to confirm certain information. She did so, and the cartridge arrived, along with an invoice for $389.00

I have never done business with this company, in December, 2008, or at any other time. I have always ordered my supplies from the same vendor that services our equipment, and have never paid more than $132.00 for toner cartridges.

I called the company immediately and spoke to "Mark", Mr. Johnson's supervisor. He called back a few minutes later to tell me that Johnson assured him that my secretary (who is new and does not have responsibility for ordering supplies, except at my direct request) placed the order. I told the supervisor that would be beyond improbable, and in the meantime, that I had run a Google search on Toner Factory and came across two Rip Off reports which contained facts that were virtually identical to the scenario described to me by my secretary, including both naming "Don Johnson" as the contact person. "People can write whatever they want on the Internet, that doesn't make it true" was the best response the supervisor could muster.

Bottom line: the supervisor told me that he would issue a call tag to UPS to pick up the cartridge, which is a good thing for them, as I had no intention of paying for something we didn't order.

Thanks to others for taking the time to write about their experiences and to your website for making the information available.

Toner Factory, Not Likely

AUTHOR: Ml - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, April 02, 2009

I work in the IT supply industry which also includes computer and printer supplies such as toners and items similar. Toner Factory is know in the industry as whats called "toner pirates". What they do is attain your address, send their incredibly high priced re manufactured toner to you with an invoice. The reason these frauds still stay in business is that a company owner doesn't have the time or patience to deal with a garage run toner scam, so they pay the invoice and tell them to never call again. After seeing these reports about Toner Factory I decided to call myself. Here is how the conversation went....

Toner Factory Uh, hello?

Me Yes, is this Toner Factory?

Toner Factory Yes it is, who is this (very professional for a business)

Me My name is Matt and I was calling to find out if you carried
a certain toner I was looking for?

Toner Factory Which one were you looking for?

Me the 42X (the most common cartridge for network printer #1 at
selling cartridge at Staples)

Toner Factory I've never heard of that, what does it go to? (not a good
question to ask if this is your line of business)

Me Seriously? It goes to an HP 4250

Toner Factory Who is this and how did you get my number, I only do
business from word of mouth (good or bad, I guess it doesn't
matter to them). I'm sorry I don't have that cartridge.

Toner Factory HANGS UP ON ME

If someone is trying to sell a company any type of supply, that salesman should know more about the product than the buyer, its their job. Don't ever accept product unless you have ordered it.

Hmm...

AUTHOR: Lvparalegal - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 19, 2009

...it's a lie unless someone sues you? Perhaps there are those who would go into litigation over less than $400 but I don't know anyone who would do so. The process is simply too much trouble over such a small amount of money. I wouldn't want to take time out of my day to sit in small claims court over that amount of money, but maybe that's just me. But to say that it's either a lie or Toner Factory would have been sued...? A person lacking the motivation to sue over $389 doesn't vindicate another of deceit.

And the title says Toner Factory, as does the body of the post. It doesn't say Toner World anywhere...

ITS A KNOWN TELEMARKETING SCAM

AUTHOR: Laurie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 19, 2009

Phone Toner Scam: The scam artist poses as a warehouse representative or vendor and makes contact with a targeted company. He will say "This is (first name), I need the model number off your copier". If the person who answers gives this info, the scammers will try to set up a shipment of toner. Of course, the deal is so good that the offer is based on a limited supply or limited time, pressuring the employee to act fast and get their money's worth. Upon delivery, both the employee and the company are usually in for a big surprise. The price of the invoiced toner is 2-3 times higher than expected, and the scam artist threatens with legal fines if the company fails to pay.

its all a lie

AUTHOR: Bill Bradly - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 19, 2009

first of all we are no longer called toner world, we are called toner factory and these reports are the result of an angry customer that i was rude to. i have a bad temper and when a customer of mine complains to much i lose it and curse them out i am an a*****e but not a scammer. this person or people want to use this as a way to get back at me. if someone wants a refund or exchange all they have to do is ask and it will be done, but so far these people have not because what they are saying is a lie period or they would have sued us
