TONYA JONES SALON..Is a hair salon I was a frequent customer of. 99% of the time Tonya Jones would be the one who would color my hair. The very first time I went to this salon I had to get Tonya to correct an issue that another salon had caused. After leaving the salon that day I was very pleased with how my hair turned out. It looked really great! I was treated with respect by Tonya and she was nice to me the entire time. I was not the one who paid for this service due to a friend referring me and giving this to me as a gift. My friend gave me the price range that she paid at every visit and she and I have the same job done on our hair.

I decided after that 1st visit to go back. Now at my 2nd visit (6 weeks later) I walked in and sat down and waited on Tonya to get to my chair. Tonya asked me if I wanted the regular that I got on my 1st visit and naturally I said yes. Now here's where things go south.. 

I asked Tonya exactly what she was doing on my hair because I had the brochure that gave (estimates) of what it would cost. This brochure was out in front of Tonya and she saw that I was trying to get a feel of what I would be paying. However, Tonya decided (may I add) to mix the color before making sure I could afford everything. When she walked back over to me, she started the process of placing foils in my hair. I began to ask her how much each thing would cost and she became very aggitated due to me asking questions on price. Now from this point forward is when Tonya was incredibly rude to me and she made sure to have as little of conversation as she could with me. 

Around my 4th visit was when I said something to her, asking her if I had upset her? She came back with "well the 2nd visit you didn't bother to ask me about the prices until after I had mixed up the color." I told her that I was trying to ask before she decided to go and mix it up. She cut the conversation short and after placing all the foils in my hair, she walked over to one of her employees and they started to whispher and look my direction which they followed up with laughter. I was very upset from this point forward. Thinking this was a low class way to treat customers. 

I continued to go back (because I am the type that I don't like to go to just anyone because they will mess up your hair. So it took awhile to find the right stylist for me..just in case your wondering why I continued to go back).  I continued to go back to Tonya and her and her employees continued on being rude to me at every visit. 

One visit imparticular, Tonya had started the process on my hair as usual and one of her customers walked over to my chair and started to speak with Tonya. Her customer made the statement that she "would come over to talk to Tonya since she didn't have anyone that was wanting to speak to her." I could feel my blood pressure rising and I tried very hard to not get up and to cuss this B_ _ _ _ out! I left that day, again very upset. 

The next to last visit that I went to, Tonya had completed my hair and she had walked over to one of her customers chairs and my daughter who was sitting close by, heard Tonya state to this customer "let me move you over to this section, away from the middle class." Let me be clear on stating that this was not a joke either. 

Now this is the end..I promise! So the very last visit of mine that made me say that I would never come back was this one.. I was running late this day and I had contacted Tonya via the phone. I asked to speak with Tonya directly so that I could make sure that she herself approved me still coming even though I would be late. I told her the exact amount of time it would take me from where I was..Tonya stated "that will be fine. Just come straight in and to me." I raced down the highway trying to get there even earlier. Once I arrived at the salon, I walked straight up to Tonya (as she advised me to do) and told her I was there. Tonya stopped working on her customers hair at that moment and she looked at me and was very rude when she stated this "you are late. I am booked up. You will either have to take another lower level hair dresser (I will explain this statement below in just a min) "if" there's one available or you will need to reschedule to come back to me another time." You can only imagine how angry I was at this moment! I stated to her what she had told me on the phone but she continued to speak down to me and to repeat what she already had stated to me. 

Now here's how things work in the Tonya Jones Salon..there are different levels of stylists. Tonya is known as a level 1 stylist (which means she's more "hair" educated). You have to pay by the stylist level you decide to use to work on your hair. So a level 1 would be of course more expensive. Now Tonya did the same thing on my hair each and every 4 weeks (which they had me coming more often) and the price should remain the same depending on if they completed a partial or a full color treatment on me, right? Wrong! My price continued to rise! I paid over $300 on my bill one time. Almost at the $400 range. I have all my receipts and I'll have to look because I believe I even paid a $450 bill! I was being ripped off! Now on this last visit, I decided to take one of her "butt kissing employees" and this one was a guy. He made it clear that he was in a rush and I was ok with that as long as my hair was not ruined. Well that was not the case! He not only forgot about me after placig color on my hair but I had to chase someone down to have them to get the color off of my hair (twice I did this) before it was ruined. Tonya noticed my upset and stated "your hair will be fine." Once the guy came back to my chair and rinsed my hair out, I saw that it was almost grey in color! I could not believe this! If that wasn't bad enough, the guy had left to go home for the evening without even making sure that I was ok with my hair. I clearly was very upset and I let Tonya know this. She stated it could be fixed and she had one of her employees call the guy back to the salon. He didn't arrive to the salon until 40 minutes later! Of course he had an attitude and was mad and he placed what's called "purple shampoo" (which I have this at home and could have done this myself) on my hair and he let it sit for a few minutes and rinsed it out and than asked me if I was ok with it? I told him that I wasn't real happy with it and that I thought it was going to be the same that is normally done with Tonya. He stated for me to walk around with this color for at least a week and if I'm still not happy to come back and he would look at placing something else on my hair. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I could not believe what was coming out of not only his mouth but Tonya's mouth! Oh and may I add that Tonya nor this guy stylist took any money off of my bill! I paid FULL PRICE for one of Tonya's stylist to ruin my hair! When I left the salon and went to feel my hair it was as though you could squeeze a handful of my hair and it would just make that crunching sound and break off. Well that's what happened. My hair broke off to the point that it was not long anymore and it was not healthy looking anymore (everything I worked hard to keep up from an early age). 

I will NEVER go back to this salon! I would advise anyone who wants to try a new salon or who is referred to this salon..to NEVER go to it! If you want to keep not only money in your wallet but your hair looking healthy and your hair not being ruined than I'd suggest to stay as far away from this salon as you can! If you are not one of Tonya's rich customers (meaning that you give her big tips and pay out big money) then you will be treated with disrespect. I wanted to make sure that anyone who looked up this salon would know to run from it. I hope this helps you out. 

Oh and by the way..I have just recently went to the Paul Mitchell school and had a stylist there by the name of Kelsie (who also had Denise helping her) to work on my hair and it looks FANTASTIC! Oh AND i only paid very very little compared to what I was being ripped off on at Tonya Jones Salon! Not to mention I was treated with complete respect! I LOVE this place and I will continue to go back!

Don't keep going back if all you do is want to complain

 Seeing as how this is the only complaint for her salon on this site, only proves her salon, staff or her, is not the problem. Hair can get pretty pricy if you want it done the right way. And also, seeing as you have stated that you went back over 4 times, shows that you liked your hair everytime Tonya did your hair. And, that each tIme, you had a clue of what it would cost. And, still paid that price. That is only on you for doing that. So, your complaint really isn't valid, in that case. If you had a problem with it the first time, don't go back. Simple as that. Now...Tonya is considered a level 4. The highest level that can be reached as a stylist. You are correct about the higher the level the higher the price.

She may have seen that your hair needed more work or products as a newbie may could not tell as much. Your hair may have looked the same in the end, but may not be as reconstructed as much as needed. Hence the levels of stylists. And, the Paul Mitchell school may have been cheaper. They are not considered stylists yet. They are still learning. That means there is a bigger chance of your hair not turning out right. Nor, end up being as healthy as it should be. Tonya will suggest the add-ons before doing them bc she knows people have only so much money to work with sometimes. And, if you don't tell your stylist to do anything goes different than the time before (as soon as you sit in the chair)....

they will do the same process bc that is seen as what you like. That means that they pay attention to what you have liked in the past. To me, that makes it more personal between you and the stylist. As for you saying it got messed up by the other stylist....I've never had a problem. Even if I was late & had to have someone else perform the job bc the other stylist it completely booked. Seeing as how Tonya is the owner of the salon, it should be known that everyone would want her to do their hair. So, she has to fit everyone in at the alloted time. That part is on you too. And, probably why your hair may have been screwed up by other stylist bc they had to fit you inbetween other clients as well. And, that's only if it was truly messed up.

Bc, I've never noticed anyone complain. In the end, if you don't want to pay the prices....don't go to a high end hair salon & expect it to be cheap. The best stylists will be at that salon.... bc they are the best. And, don't keep going back if all you're going to do is complain about how much it cost. Easy. Oh, and as for talking about you...you maybe more paranoid bc you know you were the one whining & having the issue. Is there any chance that they could be talking about another stylist or customer about something funny they did earlier? Umm....yeah. They are completely professional there. I've never seen anything less when going in there. And, why would Tonya want to jeopardize her business?
