This man probably has different aliases but he poses as a detective working for the German government going after Nigerian scammers on behalf of the victims.  However, he is a Nigerian scammer himself.

He begins this process by contacting the victim to begin an official investigation along with a fellow investigator named 'Barbara Smith' who supposedly resides in Australia with her family.  Later he will strike up an online/telephone friendship and eventually claims to have recovered stolen the victims money and convinces the victim that the banks in Germany require the victim to personally go to Germany to retrieve the check.

He will then begin a romantic relationship with the victim.  During this process his so called partner will maintain contact with the victim.  He supposedly will get into a car accident in another country yet will not be able to provide any hospital information per doctors orders because he is in critical condition.  She will give a sad story of him not being able to pay the hospital bills and will need money wired asap.  Yet he makes a miraculous recovery and walks out.

From this point on Torstein Meir will convince the victim that he's madly in love with the victim and convince her to sell EVERY personal belonging of hers so they can begin a relationship in Germany where he is supposedly from.  Including her clothes.  She is convinced to send all money to him and he will drop out of site.

They are able to obtain personal information from the victim during this process so that they are able to steal the victim's identities.

These people have stolen over $70,000 USD from one victim alone that I know personally.

The German Consulate has been made aware of this scam and has been reported it to the authorities.   If you feel you might of had any contact with these people please report them immediately to the FBI or local authorities.
