Townecraft Corp. Townecraft Cookware Pressure sale, misrepresented price and payment of cookware. unsatisfied with staining of cookware. Company will not stand by product. Use of free merchandise to sell product and then you don;t get free items. Company won't accept returns. Selling to young people who cannot afford nor have jobs. Glen Rock New Jersey

Towncraft Corp obviously bought my name from my bridal registry. They called me everyday wanting me to come to a party to win a vacation for me and my newlywed husband. Also, promised free gifts and merchandise.  After several calls,  I gave in and told them  I would come. When my husband and I got there, we soon found out that it was Townecraft Cookware trying to sell their goods.  They promised us if we would watch their demo that we would receive a 35 piece set of their famous townecraft knives and a free vacation for two to several of their resorts just for watching their demo.  As time went on, we were pressured into buying cookware we didn't need, nor afford since I did not have a job and my husband only has a part time job making just above minimun wage.  How we go approved, I don't know.

We didn't have any credit!  The person told us that we could get a basic set of cookware and only pay $24.00 per month.  We finally gave in and agreed to the sale so we could leave.  I told my husband that maybe we could manage $24.00 per month.  When we got our first statement, we found out that it was $98.00 a month. When I called them and told them we can't afford $98.00 a month, they said we would have to pay for it anyway and that I misunderstood the amount, that $24.00 a month was for one pan!  They also gave us a brochure with info about a vacation to a couple places.  About a week later, we received the cookware.  The 35 piece set of knives turned out to be only five knives, that is 30 knives short!  I contacted them immediately about the small set of knives.

I was told that I misunderstood, that it was only 5 knives! I cooked 2 pieces of chicken that night in the pan, using the exact directions and the exact heat, which was on low to cook the chicken. It took forever to cook! But, I cooked it on low anyway. The pan started turning colors.  When I finished the chicken, and cooled and washed the pan exactly as directed, the stain remained in the pan with a ring around the middle.  I was not satisfied with the pan at all and for the price of the cookware, I felt the pan should not turn and be ugly, but it did.  I have had other cookware that was actually cheap that I have used for years and has not turned.  So, I called the company to tell them I wanted to return the cookware which only one pan had been used and was told that they don't do returns.

I was told I would have to pay for it even if I sent it back because they have been in business for 80 years and have never had a complaint and that I had to cook it too high!  They said I cooked it on the wrong temperature, I misunderstood that it was a 5 pc knife set instead of 35 piece set, and that I misunderstood that it was $98.00 a month, not $24.00 per month.  I understood perfectly well and so did my husband. I was told by Townecraft that they have never heard of the vacations we were suppose to have!  They said the people who sold us the cookware does not work for them and they don't have anything to do with it, yet, Townecraft financed the cookware that these people they don't know are selling!
