My Customer brought me a 2008 Scion with 41,661 miles for Inspection after purchasing it from Gary Bennett, Gary said we do more than 100 point inspection to every vehicle, there is nothing wrong with this car. Upon inspection I found the front brake pad on the passeger side inner is 5.09 mm ( new is 11.5 mm ), one quart to much oil in the engine, power steering fluid is discolored and smells burnt, scratches on the passenger side lower front bumper and the sunroof operation is not correct.
I called Dave Stein (manager) and informed him of my findiings, Dave stated " we don't sell cars with more than 50% worn brake pads". Tell the Customer to come in and we will fix everything on the list including paying for my inspection.
Brought car back to them, man named Robert states "here comes the picky lady", Gary states this is alot of work. Customer calls me, I leave a message for Greg Caminski ( General Manager )and a lady named Danielle called me and stated she would help the Customer.
Customer got the car back with the scratches fixed and the correct amount of oil. Gary told Customer the brakes are o.k. and the power steering is good. Not sure what they will do about the sunroof. Customer noticed a missing decal on rear of car and Gary had a fit and argured and complained so much that the customer called me. Gary also refused to pay for my inspection.
I called Greg Caminski and got his voice mail, Informed him of Dishonesty and Very, Very Poor Customer Service that I could no longer buy parts from him anymore. That I would not have my name associated with that type of business, will also forward this info to the Bureau of Automotive Repair and DMV Investigation Department.
In closing, I went to my Customer and informed them I would be Very Happy to fix the current issues and service her vehicle from now on. No matter how this event turns out I left the Customer with a Big Smile on her face and feeling comfortable. Toyota of El Cajon left her fustrated and upset.

Toyota of El Cajon states customer brought two vehicles after the Scion issue. Customer informed me they brought one vehicle a month prior to the that. The Scion and other vehicle were brought with in a few days of each other.
Then all the trouble started with Toyota of El Cajon not honoring there word, lieing to me and the customer. It's amazing to me that Toyota of El Cajon continues to distort the facts and only helped my customer after I filed this report.
In closing, to all consumers please beware of this continuning deceitful behavior by this dealership. I suggust you shop around different dealerships, check into how many consumer complaints have been filed against them. The Bureau of Automotive Repair provides a free service to keep consumers informed.

My name is Michelle Candelaria and I am the Guest Relations Manager for Toyota of El Cajon. I have spoken to the Customer that this Independant Shop is referring to and she has stated that she is happy with TEC so much that she purchased 2 more vehicles.
I have also spoken to the author of the report and all concerns have been resolved. Though TEC could have done some things differently and even better perhaps... not all information reported was correct. We do however appreciate the opportunity to assist with this mutal customer and pleased that the outcome is a positive one.
Sincerely,
Michelle Candelaria
