Do not Purchase extended toys r us warranty. The sales clerk told me upon purchasing a gameboy for my son that if he broke it or if it went bad that all I would have to do is returned it to the store with my receipt and they would replace it at the store on the spot. She also stated that she always gets the warranties herself because just as it is about to exipire she goe and get a new item on whatever her purchase was that way she has another new item. I personally never get warranties because the manufacturer normally has one, on this occassion because she said that they would replace it locally at the store I did.

A few months later the cover came off and I tried to get it replaced. I had the receipt and the box and the accessories and they told me that I would have to send it off.

They gave me a number I called it and they gave me an address to send it to. They didn't even supply a box and shipping cost werent covered. The item was sent off feb 28 2007.

I called the company that was supposed to fix it "Professional Satelite Repairs" and they said that they reported it to Toys R Us March 10 that they couldn't repair it and that Toys R Us would be sending me a check. It is now May 30th. Toys R Us knew nothing about it.

So I called "Professional Satelite Repairs" and they gave me the following information tnwarranty 1800-721-7276. Always a busy signal. I tried to call "Professional Satelite Repair" Back and I kept getting a message that said we are now closed are office hours are mon - fri 8:00am to 4:00pm it was 10:00am that morning and I had just got off the phone with them 20 minutes prior. I tried contacting them throughout the day with no luck. I called Toys R Us back furious and explained to them the situation and they called Professional Satelite Repair while I was on hold and they got right through and spoke with the same person that I originally spoke with. I had just attempted to get through to "Professional Satelite Repairs" prior to calling Toys R Us.

Toys R Us appologized for the confussion and said that refund check would be issued. I keep calling to check on it and they keep saying 10 - 15 business days. Today is June 27, 2007. Toys R Us said that on June 25, 2007 that a check was authorized to be disbursed to me for $179.00. It has been four months and I'm still waiting. I will let you know how this turns out.

I have conducted research in regards to the Toys R Us Buyer Protection Plan and everything that I have found has been negative. "DONT GET IT" it you don't want the headaches and the lies. I told them to send me my product back and they had lost it.

Funny story about those BPPs

AUTHOR: Missa - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 28, 2009

We have to sell as many of them as possible. They will run contests to get people into it. Usually, you get in trouble if you don't sell any.

The problem is, some employees are so desperate to do it, they will tell a customer anything to get them to purchase it.

I knew a guy who worked in R-Zone that would tell customers they could bring it right back to the store any time and receive a free exchange. He always sold the most, but he lied to do it.

I'd actually advise some customers AGAINST the BPP because I know it sucks. Someone sent their xbox360 off, and the company claimed they never received it.

I never buy warranties for this reason. I know how they work (or should I say don't work).

No problem with BPP

AUTHOR: Debra - (U.S.A.)

First of all, if you buy a warranty you should read the fine print. I believe the warranty pamphlet you received with your purchase would show you the item is to be returned to the store in the first 3 months and beyond that starts your extra 12 month warranty. It tells you what to do if you need to make a claim. The number is all over the pamphlet. I personally had an issue with a carseat and had no problem contacting the BPP company and receiving my check for my product. If a buy a warranty I read my paperwork immediately.
