I have two Tracfones. One of them was my daughters that quit working months ago. She charged it the other day to see if she could get information off her address book and realized there were still sixty minutes available on it. I called Tracfone to explain to them that the phone had stopped working and that we had another one that was active. I asked if the minutes could be transferred because that sixty minutes cost me $20.00.

I was told because the phone was expired due to non-use that there was nothing they could do. Even though I explained that the original phone quit working and that we replaced it with another one, they still wouldn't help. They ripped me off. $20.00 may not seem like a lot but I still don't think it is right.

When my minutes expire on the phone that is valid, I will be throwing these phones away and using someone else!

Submit your complaint with the State of Florida

AUTHOR: JJ - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 21, 2006

Juliet - Birmingham, Alabama
U.S.A.
JJ says:
Like I said previously, submit a complaint with the State of Florida Attorney General's office, the Southeast Florida BBB office, and the Florida Consumer Services Department. I can almost bet you that you will get the attention of the executives at Tracfone Wireless in Miami, Florida. All your doing here is venting your anger for no purpose. Submit thoses complaints and you will get some action from Tracfone Wireless, Inc. if that's what you want.

Tracfone MOST DEFINITELY will steal your minutes!

Tracfone may be a lot easier to use these days, but the troubles I had with the customer service department don't seem to have been upgraded a whole lot.

As for the statement I've had Tracphone for 2 years and as long as you maintain minutes AND service, the phone works just fine, well, that's great. I most certainly did keep up with the service and the minutes, despite the ridiculous complexity of it, AT THAT TIME. However, just wait till you have to deal with Customer Service. Not wishing THAT on anyone, just stating the fact that I made my original report in 2004, and now, two years later, the same lack of any help seems to be occurring with current customers. I don't necessarily fault the customer service representatives, so much as Tracofone and whatever their deplorable training seems to consist of.

My greatest infuriation was noted in my original report, how I contacted Customer Service via their website inquiring as to how to transfer my minutes, well before I was actually needing to do it. Their email was unresponsive in that I, apparently, wasn't ACTUALLY requesting for them to pull the needed files to verify I did have the minutes my TRACFONE SAID I DID, and also that it would be 2 weeks for them to do so, once I officially made my request. So, sending a request asking to have what needs to be done in order for them to help me CONTINUE MY SERVICE WITH THEM did not sufficiently constitute a request that would actually spur anyone to action.

It became clear through a number of further non-responsive emails that I would be better off calling Customer Service. So, a month later, I give in, and call, and lucky me, I was forced to deal with two separate representatives. That would not be so bad, except the first one CLEARED ALL MINUTES FROM MY PHONE right before DISCONNECTING ME. When I immediately called back, the next rep told me it would take FOUR TO SIX WEEKS to pull my files, despite the emails stating 2 weeks. When I told him this, HE DISPUTED WHAT I READ ON THE EMAILS. His oh-so-helpful solution was to tell me my 504 minutes were lost, and he could not help me.

EVEN THEN, I did not give up!! I attempted to purchase NEW minutes through the website, which previously had worked perfectly. Not so this time. After that, I rolled over and gave up, yes, I did. I got a regular cellphone plan, and truly, have had no issues, since 2004.

I had been accumulating my 504 minutes over a period of more than a year. I may, or may not, have had the needed receipts, etc., but I was so fed up, I just wanted to erase the whole experience. I WOULD do that, except when I see people continuing to be abused by Tracfone's disgraceful version of customer service, I sometimes get so outraged that its still going on, I just have to put my two cents worth in!

Tracfone is certainly not my only experience in getting ripped off, but it's one that I DID document when it happened, and while it actually does amuse me that it still lights a fire under me, I am glad it does, if it helps anyone else feel a little better about THEIR experience with Tracfone.

Submit complaint with the State of Florida

AUTHOR: JJ - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 20, 2006

After talking to Tracfone Customer Service, which is located in various South Americans countries, and not getting any results I turned my aggravation to the state of Florida. I submitted complaints with the Florida state Attorney General's office, the Better Business Bureau of Southeast Florida, and the Florida Consumer Services Department. About three days later, my home phone answering machine was full of responses from an executive officer from Tracfone Wireless wanting to know how we can resolve this issue.

Well, needless to say, they sent me a new replacement phone for the defective phone that I ordered, next day air and they also activated the phone with a new number according to my postal zip code, and gave me 400 minutes of airtime free. If you have problems with Tracfone Wireless in Miami, Florida contact the same organizations that I did by submitting a complaint, but you do have to back up your complaints with email correspondence and receipts showing what you purchased from Tracfone Wireless, Inc.

Trac phone way better than others I had

AUTHOR: Pablo - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, November 04, 2006

I used to have an open ended contract with verizon but instead of paying the 40 monthly plan, I was getting hundreds of unknown minutes useage each month and getting charged for them. I've had Tracphone for 2 years and as long as you maintain minutes AND service, the phone works just fine. And I never pay for unknown calls as long as you don't answer the unknown number showing up on the phone. I suspect you let the service expire on the one phone. And the plan clearly states that if you let the service expire, you forfeit any remaining minutes and the phone is disconnected.
