I attempted to reactivate an older TracPhone on line during early am. I was unable to sucessfully activate the phone and was prompted to call customer service 1-800-867-7183. I called the customer service number and entered all the information that was requested.  The phone recording told me that I would need a pin number from a purchased airtime card in order to continue. I hung up and went back on line and attempted to purchase a 9.99 30 minute airtime card which requires entering either your sim card # or your phone number.  Each time I was given an error so I decided to try and purchase the 19.99 1 hour airtime card once again entering the number for my TracPhone.  This purchase went without a problem until I reached a screen telling me the phone could not be reactivated and call customer service. Once again I called 1-800-867-7183.  After speaking with customer service and giving them the phones IMEI, Sim Card and Telephone number I was asked to give my name and mailing address.  After giving customer service the info I inquired why did they need it.  The CSR replied it was to send me out a new SIM card because the card I have could not be reactivated.  I told her no that would not be acceptable for me because I needed the phone for an emergency situation and I would prefer to just have my purchase refunded to me.

The CSR informed me that they could not issue refunds.  I told her I would hold until she got someone on the phone who could issue the refund.  After being transferred to another department and being asked to once again supply all the information (IMEI, Sim Card, & Phone number) I was then sent to a 3rd department.  The third CSR stated she was  in management and asked for my credit card number as all of this was happening while trying to get out of the door I no longer had the credit card in front of me.  I was given a phone number of 1-866-277-4089 and a reference #618967 and told to call back with my purchasing credit card.

Once returning home I called the 1-866-277-4089 only to get an automated message stating that this was not a working number and to call customer service.  After being asked to supply all of the same information and demanding to speak to a supervisor I ended up speaking with R.  She was rude, condescending and hateful and I was furious and screaming.  I did not call with the intention of demanding a refund, I called because I needed and wanted the phone to work.  I only asked for a refund once TracPhone informed ME that the phone could not be activated.  And now I don't want any special treatment I just want to be refunded the money I paid for a service that by there on admission does not work.

I called immediately.

I called TracPhone immediately.  The charge is still listed under pending transactions with my credit card so I cannot file a complaint with them until the charge posts.  I wanted and needed to use the phone for an emergency today.  A simple " I'm sorry but the phone cannot be reactivated would you like to have an updated sim card mailed to you or would you prefer refund on the purchase you made literally minutes ago?".  And why LIE and give me an out of work customer service number and reference # and tell me to call back to have my refund processed.  I'm not asking for special treatment but there response is ridiculous.

Refund...

Im sorry to tell youthis but I dont see you getting ANY money back. AIRTIME is non refundable. As someone who works in retail I can tell you with 100% certainty that you ONLY get 5 mins to reverse a airtime transaction. Past that 5 min mark, there is no refund. You can holler and scream all you like, but it wont make them budge. I would suggest that since your SIM card is no longer working, that you let them send you a new SIm card and use the service that you have paid for. And yes SIM cards DO expire.
