On October 16th 2011 I sent Tracy Hosfelt a deposit to hold a "newborn" Bambino kitten - she never would give me an exact DOB for the kitten.  She told me the kitten would be able to fly out between 12 and 16 weeks of age (mid January to mid February 2012.)  We kept in touch through, Face Book, e-mail and texts.  On December 14th she told me the kitten was "ready to go" and that she had already obtained a  health certificate which was only valid for 10 days.  She stated at that time that there was not enough time to send the final payment I would have to wire it to her bank account - the additional amount was wired on 12/16/11.  When I pressed her on the DOB for the kitten she said "I'll have to look that up" and proceeded to claim that "some kittens mature faster than others."  So I was never sure of the cats age until it arrived and the health certificate indicated it was 8 weeks old.

She booked the kittens flight for 12/18/11 - arriving @2320 into SMF (Sacramento,Ca.)  We received the kitten @ 2317 and noticed that it had a cloudy / watery eye.  We took the kitten in to our Vet the next day (within 12 hours of arrival) and she was diagnosed with Conjunctivitis.  We started her on eye drops at that time.  When I contacted Tracy Hosfelt about the condition of the kitten she became belligerent and texted me all night long, she also deleted me from her Face Book page to prevent bad publicity. 

The next day the kitten started having diarrhea and running a fever so we took her back to our vet.  The kitten was never well while in our possession.  We took her to the Vet 2 -4 times a week.  I pushed Tracy Hosfelt for the kitten's DOB repeatedly during this time and she never would provide that information.  Over the course of 3 weeks the kitten slowly died.  We had a necropsy performed and tissue histology which diagnosed FIP.   Tracy Hosfelt was very hostile and texted all hours if the night (including Christmas Eve & Christmas) during the entire three weeks the kitten was alive and in our possession.   Once the results of the necropsy and histology confirmed the diagnosis of FIP she started backtracking and became sympathetic assuring me she would replace the kitten.  It is my belief that she recognized the symptoms and hurried the kitten out to me - knowing full well that it was sick.  The health certificate dated 12/13/11 states the kittens age as 8 weeks, this means that she sent the kitten 4 - 8 weeks earlier than she and her policy on her website stated.

Over the next 6 months I have picked out three replacement kittens.  Two have "died" & one developed "a behavior problem".  When I pressed her to give me a kitten or a refund she stopped communicating with me.  She sent me a text stating "your e-mails and your texts have now both been blocked". 

This ordeal cost us over $5000.00 - not to mention the heartache of watching a 1.8lb kitten slowly die over the course of three weeks.  I have since met several other victims of the same scam.  Sent a sick kitten - deleted from Tracy's FB as soon as you notice your kitten is sick,  text'd stalked and harassed after standing up to her.  see page on drumhorses . biz  (Tracy Hosfelt) to view other statements and documents.
