This so-called business (which is bankrupt and on the verge of being non-existent) has a history of racism, prejudice, and discrimination within. It starts with upper level management at the headquarters in Minneapolis and trickles down to the lower level management (store managers and assistant managers).

I worked for this company for a brief period of time until the company decided to file phony criminal charges against me for selling more than 6 products to a customer. In the report, they claimed that the items were "stolen" or in other words sold without permission from management, although I never sought permission from management in the past to sell more than six items. The case went on for almost 2 years because the company was too cowardly to come forward and pursue the charges, as was the 3 managers who were involved in filing the charges. One of the managers lied in the police report claiming that it was her store (that she was actually the owner of the store), as if she started the company with her own money and somehow her pockets were hurting. She was a manager who I had seen only twice throughout my employment with this company. What these people failed to mention was that they had a problem with non-white customers purchasing products and coming into the store. The customer that purchased more than 6 items just happened to be someone of Middle Eastern descent and he was labeled as a "diverter", even though I had sold more than 6 items to several WHITE people in the past (and again without permission from management).

Long story short, the case was dismissed due to the cowards not having a REAL case to begin with and being too frightened to go to trial because all of their evidence was going to benefit me in the end. The real reason the charges were filed is because they did not want to give me backpay for money that they had stolen from my paychecks. After I contacted an attorney, they got scared and decided they would file bogus charges against me instead as a way to hinder me. They expected me and other employees to work for them off the clock, in other words free of charge...like who does that? Later I discovered that countless other current and former employees experienced the same exact thing.

We had a sissy manager who loved calling the police everytime his feelings got hurt or he felt he would get in some type of trouble. One day a man came into the store and got in his face and cussed him out and he called the police on him. On another occasion, a woman had stolen a flat iron off the shelf and he instructed me to dial 911, as if it were some type of life threatening emergency. Really? A stolen flat iron warrants dialing 911? Last time I checked, people went to jail for that and a call of that nature warrants going to jail, yet selling more than 6 of the same items to a customer was a crime to them! One would think that they would be appreciative of the money that I made them since they were on the brink of closing and are closed as of today. After all of this, they got absolutley nowhere and did not get a dime of restitution from me like they were hoping. I was willing to go to jail rather than pay them back a dime, but again, the sale was legitimate and they were only retaliating out of fear.

This manager had no formal education or training in the industry, was absolutely clueless when it came to hair and beauty products, and didn't know the difference between Fresh Curls or Fresh Pearls. He constantly stole money, products, and appliances from the store and blamed the employees. He would also use the company credit card to make personal purchases, as did other store managers at other locations. He even admitted that another store manager purchased a vacuum cleaner for use at home, and he himself would dine out at restaurants and make other personal purchases.  He had some type of obsession with sending text messages to the employees because he was constantly texting us about things that weren't even important.  One day he sent a 3 page text message to employees warning us not to ever text him again because company policy forbid him not to. We were all confused because we never started the text message melee with him to begin with. Those texts continued to come in from him after all of this and never stopped.

This is the worst company I have ever worked for and I can't wait until they are no longer in existence.
