I paid Trader Network $100 to list my shower trailer in various auctions. I never got one call, email or letter. That was months ago. Today, a "manager" called me trying to sell me a $499 "service". She said she had over 45 calls on my trailer, a couple of buyers who needed to finance but came up short. She said there is an auction starting in a couple of days, and there are only four spots left! If I hurry, she can get me in. And, she's going to discount the $2900 price to just $499! She guarantees it will sell at my asking price! Really?!

First of all, I already had a listing with Equipment Trader before I paid for the "auction listing service". No offers.
Second, the first "listing" with auctions got no activity. Why am I now being asked to pay five times as much to try again?
Third, if they have had "calls", where did they come from? If it was from my Trader listing, I would have gotten the calls. Auctions shouldn't generate "calls", only bids. I don't think there were any calls. I think they are trying to get me excited that they are generating interest, when in fact they are not.

Fourth, there are no guarantees in auctions. Sometimes things don't sell. If they're so sure it will sell at more than my asking price, why don't they buy it from me and re-sell it? I asked for a contract to review. I got an email:

"Hey there, thank you for your time today...

Here is the email you asked for stating the different things I/we will do for you and your trailer!! I would like to put it on different sites out there that gear towards these kind of trailers. I want to put it on several different auctions to get it out in front of people again who are wanting and looking for these kind of trailers again, guarantee to sell at your asking price before it comes down!! (ave 3 weeks)

We will assist as a company different ave to get financing for anyone who is in need. I guarantee to keep running the trailer in all these additional things until sold at your asking price of $18,200. I will be available for you to get a hold of 24/7 via the way I discussed with you on the phone. It will be in search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN and AOL!!!!! I personally will work with you until the day you have money in hand and the Forest River gone!!!!!"

This is not a contract, it is a sales pitch. I smell a rat. I found out that they are not BBB accredited, due to complaints, several unresolved. A quick survey of online consumer sites finds many similar stories. I will be making some calls to agencies in their state and mine.
