Scott Griggs owns Trianz.com and sells model trains of all kinds, Lionel, MTH, Atlas etc., from all eras for the hobby train enthusiast.  Mr. Griggs obtains the products he sells second hand from closing Hobby shops and private collectors.  He advertises on his webiste "WE MAKE SELLING YOUR TRAINS ABSOLUTLY SIMPLE" and claims to pay the highest price for your trains.

Unfortonaltley Mr. Griggs business model is to take advantage of people such as; the long time collecter who has fallen on hard times or may have become ill, the family who has a lost a loved one and is stuck with a train collection they know nothing about, the long time neighborhood hobby shop that cant pay the bills anymore etc.  Mr. Griggs offers to come inventory everything, pay top dollar and remove the train collection and sell it on his website.

Mr. Griggs offers 2 purchase prices, one with payment in full, that is significantly less than what your trains are worth, or half down with monthly payments to get you the money you are asking for.  If the later is chosen you get more money in theory but Scott Griggs is a liar and doesn't make his payments per the agreement he drafted.

Wild Bill's Tains and Toys in Clinton Twp., MI was in business for over 20 years.  The owner built a great "O" scale hobby train shop and believed Lionel trains should be more affordable.  He would buy in bulk and pass the saving onto his customers, repair their trains, show them how to use them, and you never paid ahead of time for an order until your products arrived at the store.  He took care of his customers and at one time was a top 10 dealer for Lionel.

Wild Bills Trains and Toys owner fell ill with terminal cancer.  After researching how to liquidate his store and prepare for what's to come he chose Scott Griggs.  Scott Griggs made an offer he couldn't refuse, as long as he could pay half down and make monthly payments for the balance.  Mr. Griggs presents very unassuming, but it's a con, like this guy is honest so the agreent was made per Scott Griggs.

The owner of Wild Bills Trains and Toys has sinced passed away and Scott Griggs still owes his payments. Trainz.com and Scott Griggs ripped off Wild Bills Trains and Toys.  DO NOT BUY YOUR TRAINS FROM OR SELL TO Scott Griggs.  He built his business by robbing from the weak and poor.

The other side of the story ...

AUTHOR: Trainman - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 10, 2017

Here is the other side of the story: The owner's son, who made this post on RipOffReports.com, created the detailed inventory list that I used to price the collection.  Based on the owner's repeated assurances that if there was a problem with the inventory he would negotiate in good faith to make it right, I picked up the collection without performing a full inventory; only spot checking a selection of items against the list.

As it turned out, when the inventory arrived at our Buford, Georgia headquarters, it was discovered that approximately $30,000 of inventory recorded on the list was unaccounted for. Because of this, when the last payment was due, I presented a discrepancy report which listed all of the items that were listed on the original inventory report but were absent. I then attempted to negotiate an appropriate adjustment. By this time, the store owner had passed away. His son, who was representing the estate, was not willing to negotiate an adjustment. After weeks of attempted negotiations, which had not resulted in a resolution, and in an effort to repair the situation, I made the final payment of the full agreed-upon price less $3,000 on September 30, 2016. With this conclusion, I ultimately sustained a loss of $27,000. Unfortunately, I was unaware that these comments had been posted until November 2016.

We do not operate our business to rip people off, but always treat people fairly and with respect.  We buy hundreds of collections per year, many from satisfied, repeat customers.  With that being said, I wish to sincerely apologize to Wild Bill's for the mistakes we made with this particular collection, including our failure to perform a full and thorough inventory at the time of pick-up and for the delay in providing this client with the discrepancy list.  Since the time of this incident, we have revamped our inventory receiving system. We are now able generate discrepancy reports in a more timely fashion among other improvements.
