After signing a contract with Transcanadian Van Lines, and negotiating a price, pick up time and approximate delivery time, things went downhill from there.  They outsourced the job to Action Moving and Storage.  We were moving from Canada to California.
1) the movers were 31 hours late for the pick up.
2) the truck they sent was too small for the load.
3) The drivers were not instructed to bring a TV box for my 47" television - which I paid for.
4) I drove with the TV in my car to the storage facility with the truck.
5) they came back 2 days later to retrieve the balance of our goods.
6)The goods were not weighed by the drivers before they loaded into a storage facility.
7) Before the goods were picked up from storage, I received a fraudulent invoice which included almost 5000 additional lb from Action Moving and Storage - and not Transcanadian.  I was also charged an additional handling fee for additional good that HAD NOT BEEN WEIGHED.
8) I contacted Transcanadian and was informed that they are a broker and that Action was now responsible for everything.  The woman - Esther - did not seem to understand that I had a contract with them - and NOT with Action Moving and Storage.
9) After I discussed the legal ramification of overbilling and falsifying weight, the goods were weighed properly upon pickup.
10) After numerous attempts to get an update, and many lies about goods being picked up and  "on their way", I contacted the owner of the storage facility who gave me a truthful answer about the goods finally being picked up.
11) I was promised at the beginning of one week that the goods would arrive on Friday at the earliest, but on the weekend at best.  I discovered on that Friday, when expecting delivery, that the goods were still at the US/CAN border and had been there for 3 days - nobody told me.
12) Transcanadian Van Lines refused to give me any kind of credit, and in fact would not even issue me an invoice!  The final invoice came from Action Van Lines - with discrepancies from the original contract!  I did resolve those however.
13) I have been asked to write a "claim letter" explaining the problems and request some sort of compensation... I am not expecting anything.

They are irresponsible liars - please do not use!  Pay more, haul it on your back, sell your stuff and start again, but don't deal with these guys.
