I signed a contract with Transport Services for $675 to ship my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 from Lafayette, IN to Austin, TX.  Transport Services required a $150 deposit to hold a spot on the truck and the rest of payment was due at time of delivery ($475).  Transport Services then contracted a company called Flying Ryan Express.  The owner of this company Milton Ryan (i can only assume that his last name is Ryan, as everytime I asked for his last name he told me "Milton is all you need to know".)  This guy is rude and an outright criminal.

Milton called me 3 weeks before the truck pick-up date and asked if he could take it earlier because he was making a run to Texas and it would be convenient for him.  I explained that I was moving to Austin, TX and couldn't release the vehicle to him until the 7/25/2009 (as my contract with Transport Services states).  Disgruntled with this, he told me that would be inconvenient for him and the delivery time might be from 4-5 days from pick-up.  I was ok with it taking 4-5 days, so no big problems yet; though this guy I was dealing with seemed "shady".  I contacted Transport Services to confirm that they had contracted my job to this company and tell them I didn't want it picked up until 7/25/2009 and the driver is calling me asking to take my truck now.  Transport Services customer support said that everything was alright and they would contact the driver and make sure he understood the contract.

The driver calls me and tells me he wants to get the truck on 7/23/2009 and that he has a couple other cars to take to Texas, so it would arrive there before I would (7/28/2009).  I explained the situation to my business partner in Austin and he agreed to cover the cost of the Cash On Delivery.  Milton's son called at 7:30 AM to tell me we could meet at a Lowe's store nearby and he was available to pick up the truck.  I could see the Lowe's parking lot from the front door of our apartment and saw no type of car loader, so I called Milton's son back and asked if he was there, this is when I learned that his mother had brought him to pick up the truck and DRIVE it back because the transporting truck was being worked on and he was going to load all the cars that night.  So he just met me at my apartment and drove my truck away signing a Bill of Lading.  The Terms and Conditions to this Bill of Lading are ridiculous, but Transport Services was dealing with him, so I didn't think too much about it.

7/29/2009 I still had no word from the driver, no word from Transport Services.  I called Transport Services to see why my truck had not arrived.  They called the truck driver and confirmed he was having a truck mechanical issue and the truck would be there the following weekend 8/1/2009 - 8/2/2009.  I had no problem with this, as I was riding with my business partner at the time and didn't really have to have the truck until 8/3/09.

8/3/2009 No word from Transport Services and no word from the driver.  I called Transport Services to see where my truck was at.  This is where the really crazy business practices come into play.  Transport Services calls the driver and the driver (Milton) hangs up on Transport Services and won't talk to them about my truck.  I called the driver and he told me the truck would be there 8/7/2009 and then hung up on me.  I left it at that because Transport Services said, "There's nothing we can do, the driver keeps hanging up on us."  So onto the waiting game and trusting Milton would make good on something that he had said.

8/7/2009 No truck arrival and I'm getting fed up with the lies and deception.  I call the driver to see how close to Austin he was and he very angrily explains he's heading back to Lafayette, Indiana from Seattle, Washington and that his trip to Texas fell through  and that I'm really becoming a pain.  After a brief argument he hangs up on me, so I call Transport Services.  I report the problem I'm having, and NO ONE EVER KNOWS WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT.  They called the driver and he hung up on them.  They, then again, tell me that the problem is out of their control.  I call the driver continuously for about 30 minutes and he finally answers his phone.  His first words were, "Then get on a fu**ing plane and come get this truck if my timeline isn't working for you." At this point I call a friend in Lafayette, IN and tell him to get my truck from this maniac, he promptly goes to the address.  I call Milton and explain that my friend will be taking the truck from his possession, Milton informs me that it is in storage and I cannot get the truck from him without paying him $575.  My friend sits at his address for about 45 minutes while no one ever shows up.  Milton then tells me that the truck will be in Austin on 8/9/2009.  I call Transport Services and tell them what the driver and I had agreed upon and complain of his attitude.

8/8/2009 I contact the driver to see if he will be in Austin on 8/9/09.  He confirms that it will be 8/9/09, but will probably be late afternoon or early evening.

8/9/2009 I await a phone call, with NO CALLS at all on Sunday.  I go to bed at 3AM 8/10/2009

8/10/2009 I wake up at 8AM (I have work today).  I have 9 voicemails from the driver from 5:56AM to 7:54AM.  I call the driver and ask him where he's at and he tells me "Academy of Sports and Outdoors off of 35S here in south Austin."  He then tells me I owe him $775 dollars because he called me at 10pm on 8/9/2009 (which I have proof of a 5:56am call as the first call) and has been waiting for me since 4AM.  I just moved to North West Austin and that is the destination on his Bill of Lading and also on Transport Services contract.  He tells me for every hour I'm not there he's going to charge me $50.  I call Transport Services and after about 10 calls someone finally takes my call.  I tell them the situation and the customer service representative tells me, "This is out of our control, there is nothing I can do for you, you'll have to call the police."  I call the Austin police department and tell them the situation, they agree to send a police escort to watch the deal take place.  We (me, my girlfriend, and two police officers ) arrive at Academy of Sports and Outdoors on 35S. and can't find the truck driver.  I call the driver and he screams that it's not that hard to find and hangs up on me.  I call him back and have the officer talk to the guy and the officer finally gets an exit number out of him; unfortunately it's 10 minutes south of where we were.  That makes a total travel time, with no interruptions, of around 35 minutes (one-way).  It was also in a different police jurisdiction, so they had to request an officer meet us at THAT Academy of Sports and Outdoors on 35S.

We arrive the same time as the officer, he tells us this is a civil dispute and he can do nothing more than to let us come to an agreement.  Milton reads from his Terms and Conditions as though it's a sacred text and requires $975 for the truck.  I refuse because I don't have $975 to give this criminal.  He then drives off with my truck on his trailor.  I ask where he will be storing it and he tells me he has no legal reason to tell me that information.  I follow the truck to see where this is going into storage at and he calls me, while laughing he says, "I'm taking your truck back to Indiana to store it, so you might as well not follow me."

I then have to involve my parents into this situation.  My step-father is the holder of the title, so at this point Transport Services says nothing more than, "We can do nothing to help you" and hangs up on me and my girlfriend.  I contact the police, they dispatch a deputy to my house to take my report.

An attorney had to be brought into the equation and a deal was settled that I would pay the $975 ransom for the truck and deal with the legal issues in court.  So on 8/11/09, my girlfriend and I had to drive to San Antonio, TX (80 mile trip, one way) to get my truck from this criminal.  He drove my truck off the trailor on its rim.  The rear passenger tire was completely flat, to which he said, "There's an air pump across the street, no big deal."

At this point, Transport Services says they are going to make this right, but nothing has been done, they still hold my $150 deposit and I had to pay the truck driver $975.  This has cost me a total of $1,125, 3 days of missed work (going to be more because I'm filing suit against Flying Ryan Express) and a lot of uncalled for stress.  This vehicle is also my work vehicle, so work has been severely affected.

DO NOT USE either of these companies for any of your transport needs.  There are many good ones you can find on www.transitreviews.com, but DO NOT USE these two.  Neither of these businesses can follow through with anything, so save yourself this headache and don't use them.  I have all the information to prove these claims, from phone calls to signed documentation.  If you have doubt that this is true, feel free to e-mail me and I can provide you with the documentation of all of this.

UPDATE:

As of 9/18/09 I have recieved $150 deposit back from Transport Services (via PayPal), though Jeremy was persistent about me removinng my negative feedback, and I've had my review taken down off of www.transportreviews.com because Transport Services  couldn't prove that I was a customer.

DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE COMPANIES.  THEY WILL TAKE YOU FOR WHATEVER THEY CAN!
