Treasure Hunters Roadshow placed an advertisement in the local paper stating that they would be at a local hotel looking to purchase most anything of value.  Most notably they were wanting to purchase old coins, paper money, gold, jewelry, sports collectibles, most anything of value really.  The ad in the newspaper explicitly stated that they pay "top dollar." for anything of value.

Out of curiosity I went and took some old coins (buffalo nickels) and a few pieces of antique jewelry.  Th e jewelry consisted of two Black Hills gold rings and a very nice antique wedding ring.  They went through the coins and didn't find anything of real value in the coins.  No surprise there, as the only nickels really worth substantial money would be the three legged buffalo nickels.

Then on to the jewelry.  After looking at the two Black Hills gold rings and the wedding ring, the person clicked a few buttons on her comouter and came back with an offer.  $52.00 for the three rings.  Take it or leave it.  $52.00!!

I immediately said, "You're crazy!" picked up my rings and left.  The Black HIlls gold rings aren't worth a lot, but I know the wedding ring with the diamond was worth a lot more than $52.00!

Since then I have had the wedding ring professionally appraised by a licenced jewelry appraiser.  The appraisal value came back at over $900.00!  And they wanted to give me $52.00! The "buyers" that they speak of are probably just Ebay buyers.  They probably list the stuff they buy on Ebay. I can and do sell on Ebay!  Do it yourself!

You are better to take your stuff to a pawn shop then to deal with the crooks.  And we all know how well pawn shops will terat you.
