Trendwest Resorts engages in high-pressure sales tactics and taps into emotional impulsive decision making to pressure people who attend their "sales" meetings into signing a contract that cannot be cancelled. It is so persuasive that nearly all who attend the meeting sign up. They use FREE vacations and false sweepstakes to get you to attend their meetings.

Of course they do not disclose this to you. They offer on-the-spot financing and promise it will never affect your credit. They don't tell you that even after you pay for this membership in full, you need to make quartley payments for life to them.

If you want out of the membership, or don't pay them even if you've never used their service, this company engages in collection and intimidation tactics to collect money from the people they signed up. If you don't pay them, they charge your account off and report the account to a collection agency. I have never, ever used the company's time share and have been manipulated into giving this company thousands of dollars over the past four years. My advise is to NEVER buy a time share package from TRENDWEST RESORTS.

New Owner

AUTHOR: Sarah - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 03, 2007

I think Trend West is a great company. I wasnt presured in buying anything. I have gone two showings. the firts time I couldnt afford it so I told them I couldnt and that was that. I took the trip all I had to pay is the tax $30.00.. Big Deal..... Second time I could afford it and I showed a little intrest and as with any good sales person if you see some interest then you talk more to make the sale. so what its there job.... Now I dont think anyone should be complaining about how they do there sales because all you went for was the "free" gifts... Someone till me were in this world could you stay in a condo for $30.00 for 3 nights. Sounds pretty darn free to me. About the lifetime fee someone has to pay for the upkeep on the properties. and they let you know right then that every owner has to pay around $400 per year for the upkeep.

Trendwest is a great company

AUTHOR: Jason - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 26, 2006

First off, I am an employee of Trendwest. I have worked for the company for 7 years. I started off as a telemarketer and moved up from there. I am in sales now, not as a manager.

-Victim in Tacoma, you're saying that you were just going to show up to an office have someone give you a vacation and you leave without having to do anything? Have you never attended a timeshare presentation before? Like the saying goes, nothing is free in this world. We pay people a gift for a minimum of 90 minutes of their time. As far as the company not telling you that there are maintenance fees, in order for you to enroll, there are a minimum of 3 spots for you to sign or initial that you were disclosed the cost for maintenance.

-Vanessa there are maintenance fees with Trendwest as with any timeshare company. They can be billed quarterly or annually.

-Chelsea, what makes TWRI's collection practices rediculous? It's a collection department. Just like any other buisness. They are there to collect on debt that people owe. If they can pay their bills on time like agreed, then they wouldn't have people calling.

-Jason, I have been in sales for 6 years. The only time I have 3 hours with someone is if they had interest. If there is no interest, there is nothing I can say that can create "pressure". If there is zero interest in the presentation, why would I waste my time with that person?

All you have to do is say no! If your not interested...

AUTHOR: Richard - (Canada)

POSTED: Saturday, February 11, 2006

As an employee of Trendwest Resorts.. My job is to make those initial phone calls in which someone receives, inviting them to attend a 90 minute presentation for Trendwest Resorts..
At first, i was even a little bit skeptical on wether or not someone who attended the presentation would really receive their gift for attending. There are several different gift's in which we can offer someone for their time. The most popular gift is the trip for two adults, round trip aifare, 2 night's accomadation,s,etc.
After hearing lot's of positive feedback from people who actually attended these presentation's, i can now say for certain that you do receive the gift.( Yes you do have to pay the taxes), but it is still worth 90 minutes of your day!!!
The point of this all really, is that when i tell you that there is no obligation to buy into anything with trendwest, this is the truth.. If you are not interested then stick to your gun's, say no, then walk away happy with your gift..

Trendwest uses HARD SALES!!!

AUTHOR: Jason - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 23, 2005

I went to one of their sales things for 90 minutes(which turned into 3 hours). I told them I was not interested and said "no". The lady said, please, don't say no yet. I have to admit, what they offered was pretty good, but I have absolutely NO interest in, as they say, "Investing in my vacation." I am pretty polite and said I really do not think it was for me, but thank you. She got her manager who came over and asked if it was anything that the sales lady said that turned me off to it. I said no, she is very nice, which she was at this point. They said if I signed up right then and there, they would offer me this benefit and that benefit, but only if I signed up right then and there. At that point remembered what my girlfriend said(who is now my wife). If the deal is not good the next day, then walk away.
They push a VERY HARD sales tactic(kinda like those loonies who are involved in Pyramid scemes), I do not care what anyone tells you. When I finally said N-O and please give me my 50.00$ gift certificate to Cheesecake factory, they said quietly, "well, I guess you really aren't Trendwest type matrial" I was so tired at this point I just wanted to get the hell out of that place. I cringe whenever I drive by their office in San Diego.

Trentwest- A free gift for your time

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 15, 2005

We just got back from las vegas and while we where there we attended 3 timeshare presenttations. One was the Trendwest 90 minute timeshare presenttation. They were very nice people an gave us free food and drinks.while there was a little pressure from the first saleman to get us to buy they didn't twist our arms and we ended up NOT buying anything. We got our free gift which was a $75.00 American expess gift card and got the heck out of there. Just to let you know the price does drop alot if you keep saying No. They will offer you like a 50% discount. By the way I did two other time shares on our vacation just to get the free gifts. We ended up geting $75 cash, $75 gift card and a $100 gift card. When they try to just offer me to cheap show tickets and dinner I say no way up the offer. PLEASE DON'T SIT HERE AND CRY ABOUT BEING CHEATED, they explain the deal very clearly, all you had to do is say no and walk out. You also had 5 or 10 days to back out of the deal during the cooling off period and you didn't even do that. Your stuck with this thing until you find someone to take it over, good luck with that. It's dumb suckers like you that make it possible for these places to get rich while people like me to get these great free gifts and money, thank you.

Trend West was honest with us

AUTHOR: Shari - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 28, 2005

My husband and I just bought into Trend West and it is made very clear that it is NOT a timeshare. It was explained very clearly that it is not and never will be. It was also explained to us that there were quarterly dues of $400 (can't remember if that's the exact amount) yearly that we could pay quarterly. This is a "maintenance" fee to help keep up the resorts. This is a very minimal fee if you ask me. Also, we have been to three Trend West presentations before this last one when we bought their product. There wasn't any high pressure sales at any of them and NEVER once did they say the gifts were free. They called them complimentary gifts for attending. We were told of the monthy payments that would last for ten years until it was paid for. Also, you note that they send you to collections if you don't pay or whatnot. Well, it is a business who is earning money like every other business and they have the right to send somebody to collections if they aren't making their payments or in a timely manner for that matter. Were you paying on time? How would you know they send people to collections if you paid your bill? Well, my experience was good and I am not blowing smoke. I do, however, know it is possible to get a high pressure salesman in any field, but that was never our experience. And noteably, not ALMOST EVERYONE buys in due to high sales pressure. At all four presentations we saw many people walk away with no problems. We walked away three times with no problems and decided to buy in when we had the money. It was our decision. Not theirs!

Quarterly payments exist!

AUTHOR: Chelsea - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 28, 2005

Vanessa -

As an employee of Trendwest, you should know that quarterly dues exist!!!! There is a whole collection department just for the dues and if you are in sales, you would think a good salesperson would at least disclose that information....

I used to work in the collections dept at TRI and their practices are rediculous.

#1 UPDATE Employee

I'm an employee and hope to buy also soon

AUTHOR: Vanessa - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 21, 2005

I work for trendwest and we have a low pressure garantee which rarely an overanxious realator employed by them needs to be reminded of. Recently we had to report someone at our presentation for behavior so out of line that I will not repeat why, but for the most part we adhere to a very strict standard, trendwest is a very classy organization and so is our parent company Cendant. Most of the sweepstakes are done by third party vendors- that's right, when you put your entery form in the box, can, etc. at the mall, movie theater, Carl's Jr., ez-sweeps online, etc. you're giving that company the right to sell your info to us. I've seen the entries of some who claimed they never entered a drawing in their own handwriting as for a few who've forgotten doing so have requested such, these drawings are very real and aboveboard, but occaisionally we get older entries going back a year or three mixed in with the fresher ones, we don't appriceate this but its not our fault. Also a lot of peoples kids enter them, if someone is puzzled and sure they haven't entered one out of three times this seems to be the case.
We are trained never to use the word free in describing our complementary vacations on threat of dismissal, they are indeed complementary for attending the 90 minute presentation, and you are responisable for paying the taxes. I allways offer the three night accomadation for two package with maximum $30.00 total tax accliable, but the high end is a carnival cruise with up to $49.00 per person per night. All this is confirmed in writing before one attends so you can't say you were lied to about any of this.
I hope to soon afford to buy a propery myself (my salary prohibits this now, I'm at the bottom of the ladder)and am curious about just what you are talking about with these quarterly payments.
I assume this would be in the contract you sign when you buy by law. If trendwest is indeed doing anything less than reputable, I want to know about it, not only for the reasons I wrote, but because of my christianity would prevent me from working for them any longer.
