my 32 yr. old daughter went with her stepdad, both learning disabled, went looking for a car for her. she was talked into buying a car from the owner of tri county auto, IL.

from the time she brought the car home, she began having problems with it. i called ken, the owner/salesman and stated my daughter needed to return the car and get her money back. i explained that besides being a big gas eater,  that she had turned over most of her social security check as a downpayment, and, would never be able to make these payments of almost 400. a month when she was just making over 600. a month. (she lost her apartment because after paying for the car, she couldnt pay her rent) his best offer was to take the car back and give her 125.00 stating the rest went to taxes and title.

i asked when you sell a car, dont you go over the paperwork with the people to make sure they can afford to buy the vehicle you are trying to sell. his reply was yes, usually, but she wanted the car. after a few days, my daughter went to take the car back and instead was sold another car, needing more work than the 1st.

again, i called him and explained she is having more problems with this car than the 1st. again, i was told she wanted it and that all of his cars need work of some kind. i asked do you disclose the problems with your cars before you sell them. he said sometimes.

i guess when he seen my daughter comming in, his sometimes werent one of those times. when i talked to ken i explained when i was in real estate, i sat down with everyone to make sure they could afford to buy.  when he realized my daughter was learning disabled,  ken, did admit he knew she was learning disabled. he could have done the same. if he'd have asked her why she wanted the 1st car she would have told him because she thought it had a cd player. or if he'd have asked about the 2nd car, she would have told him her step dad had a car the same color and his runs good.

i thought in the state of IL you had so many days to return a car, especially one that the dealer knew it had problems
my daughter has had her license for several yrs. now(accident free) and she needs a car that will run properly and now unless ken from tri county decides to do the right thing i dont know when she will be able to get one. i am writing this report because i dont want this to happen to anyone else, and hopefully by writing this report, someone will be able to hellp my daughter get her money back
