Tribute mastercard company continues to charge me an account maintenance fee for an account that they themselves closed in 2009 because they said that the bank is no longer participating in the program! When I checked my yearly credit report, it shows that the account was closed by the consumer (Me) and not the creditor (Tribute)! Therte is a major problem reporting it to a credit bureau as being closed by the consumer instead of the creditor!

I feel that this is dishonest and outright fraud and it could justify them in collecting an account maintenance fee! I would love the district attorney's office in the county covering this business address to look into this matter and bring the appropriate charges against this business! In addition to the interest being paid, the $9.95 per month has been going on for nearly 4 years! I want justice and I want it swiftly!

That you have been paying the minimum(or close to the minimum) payments for close to 4 years and still have a balance.  If so then the account maintenance fees are totally valid and justified because they are still maintaining the account.  If you want those fees stopped then PAY OFF THE CARD...yes it is really that simple.

Therte is a major problem reporting it to a credit bureau as being closed by the consumer instead of the creditor!
- The only problem is for them.  Having it showed as "Closed by Consumer" is better than "Closed by Credit Grantor".  As such if it shows you closed it, it shows you made the choice.  If it says the creditor closed it that tells other creditors that they no longer felt you were credit worthy.  So you may not want to argue or complain about that.
