Trilegiant also ripped off my wife and I for about $400. We stayed in a Motel 8, and a Trilegiant rep told me that Motel 8 gave them my credit card number.

Then, Trilegiant (AKA Hoovers) sent me a $5.00 check and if you cash this check you are automatically signed up for a service called "healthsaver" which, in my view, is a worthless health insurance policy for things like ti-chi and other nonsense.

Anyway, Trilegiant claims we chashed the check (I claimed I did not) and we were signed up for the service. They began billing our credit card for $7.95 per month. This went on for years before I noticed this small charge.

I called Trilegiant and got the whole story. I did a web search and found dozens of stories like mine; complaints with the BBB and lawsuits from several State Attorney Generals.

I called my MAJOR credit card company because I thought they should be looking out for me....right? They would surely know about any scam companies out there and PROTECT me from them, right? Don't they have any legal obligation to protect me from a company like this? Apparently not! The credit care co. claimed they knew nothing about Trilegiant being a scam. I found that hard to believe and sent them all the complaints I printed off of the web. THEY KNOW NOW!

I wrote the the comptroller of the US currency. This is a government agency that is supposed to oversee the BANKS which own the credit card companies. The comptroller said "no laws broken."

Then, I found a lawfirm who had a class action suit against Trilegiant and I sent them alll the info I had. In the end, we got our money back but it took a couple of years. So much of the government protecting the consumer. It took a personal injury attorney and a CLASS ACTION lawsuit to get us our money back.

If Trilegiant ripped you off, stay on them until they give your money back!
