We discovered that the $100 Dine Around could only be used after we proved that we took the trip and could not be used during the trip. The rules were absurd and impossible to administrate. First, we had to prove we took the trip and mail all receipts, etc back to Trips Incentives before we could begin taking advantage of the Dine-around included with the trip. Once we received confirmation that we could proceed, we were sent instructions on how we could recoup money spent at specific restaurants. The rules were absurd and it was obvious that Trips Incentives was doing everything possible to prevent refunding for meals. We had to purchase money orders for $2.95 each and it was mandatory that they be purchased at the post office. That is 4 money orders at $2.95 each for a total of $11.80 plus the cost of each money order ($1.20 each) for a total of $16.60 in money order cost. (We purchase all four at once to prevent making several trips to the post office.) Also we had to send receipts and an additional self-addressed envelope with a stamp. Two stamps on each request is an additional $3.68 for a grand total cost of $20.28 to simply get the money refunded. Our instructions were to make sure all the dining was done within 90 days of the travel date (understanding our first wait was that Trips Incentives verified we took the trip with the first mail-in). Also, each receipt had to be dated a minimum of 15 days after a previous rebate check was received by us. Try to keep up with that! We sent our first receipt after our meal and waited more than 30 days and received no refund.

I called and was told they never received it and that I needed to go eat again and try it again and purchase another money order. In the meantime, I could have the Post Office research the $2.95 money order to see what happened to it. I asked if I could send a copy of everything (which I made just in case there were problems)including the money order receipt and I was told, "No! Only originals work and your money order receipt gets us nothing!" I explained there is no way we can get everything in within the required time and was told, "It's done everyday." Of course it doesn't take a rocket scientist to put a pencil to the numbers to see it's impossible to get all four in since supposedly the first one didn't get processed. Nonetheless, we tried a second time. We spent a total of $24.76 plus tax and had $25 placed on Visa as required then paid cash for the tax and tip. In a couple of weeks we received a check for $24.76. We waited 17 days and then tried again. This time our total check came to $28.76 plus tax. We again placed $25 on Visa and paid the balance, tax and tip in cash. We sent in our receipt for the $25 placed on Visa and the copy of the dinner receipt.

We received our $2.95 money order back (made out to Trips Incentives) and a note stating they are returning it because the amount cannot exceed $25. Now why they couldn't refund the $25, I don't understand. Trying to make sure that the meal stays at or below $25 is practically impossible. The only thing I can figure is that they are simply trying to make it difficult so they don't have to live up to the obligation. The letter also stated that the offer is now invalid! So that's it! We spent $20.28 toward the $100 dine around and received $24.76! So we received a whopping $4.48 for a $100 certificate and hours of time trying to meet all the ridiculous requirements set forth by Trips Incentives to ensure that they do not fulfill the offer. Also we had two meals that we normally wouldn't have had and spent $50+ in restaurants that we rarely visit due to the cost of dining there. We're retired and on a fixed income and simply can't afford to dine in these establishments unless it's a special occasion. No one should believe Trips Incentives and their offer of a $100 Dine Around. It's just a scam to get you to take a trip and attend their sales pitches that they say are not required.
