Tropical Pools/Mountain Service ,Ed Mara Jr. And Sr. Biggest Ripoff going. Took $80,000+ from Elderly Man, Ruined Yard,No Permits,pool probably doesn't work. Stroudsburg Pennsylvania

Ed Mara and son signed a contract with my elderly uncle for a viking pool in 6/2006. Total cost $43,600. Then added $30,000+ for filter,heater, concrete decking, stone wall fence etc. There was an old vinyl pool surrounded by bluestone deck. They just had to fill hole a little to fit new pool. They came and drove excavator all over lawn causing thousands in damage. Then ripped the fence out ruining it. Drove on top of bluestone breaking it. Hence the additional costs. Refused to unload pool at site until got full payment. My uncle paid believing they were going to do the job. NOT!!

Delays excuses etc. Finally had to pay someone else thousands to try and complete the mess. Ed's concrete guy came to do the deck. Poured the deck, blocked existing drainage. The wall that was to be built in place of the fencing they ruined, was supposed to be natural stone to match the rest of the wall around the pool. Instead they put the bluestone on the wall. The block, sand, concrete to build the wall had to be paid by my uncle's credit card. Would you believe the check Ed sent was no good because it was from out of state and he did not have an account with the local company. Imagine that!

Forget getting the pump/filter/fiberoptics/cover etc. They had to be bought again from Viking. We did get a heater finally. It was hooked up. When tested it blew up burning the installer. It was a used Heater with no regulator. So had to buy a new heater toooo. Now my uncle has passed and the pool has never been opened or tested. The house is on the market. The town is costing me thousands in engineering reports to see if the pool can get a CO so I can sell the house. I wish he never came back and we would only have lost a deposit!!
