I do have two unpaid checks out there with WalMart and Mejiers. There was an error in my Credit Union's calculations. My credit union admitted this by the way, but took their fees anyway and didn't pay the checks. I rarely write checks, I use my debit card. However...
TRS, even though I have explained everything from the beginning, including calling the said stores as soon as I found out what happened before TRS got involved, TRS has called me every single day for nearly a month. They start at eight am and go on until nearly 10pm. They call at a minimum, twice each day.
I was twice threatened with them showing up at my house and "getting the money" from me. This was shouted at me by a woman who also told me that I was a "deadbeat" who didn't "deserve to have anything in life" and that they would keep putting the check through until I had no money in my account!
I am disabled, all the credit union fees made it impossible to pay the two checks when my second SSI check came. And TRS makes it very clear they will not accept payment arrangements. I do not write bad checks, as I was accused of. This was an error by my credit union. Due to all the fees, which caused problems even paying my water bill now - I own my house btw - making payments is the only way I have at this point to pay these.
I don't think they really want the money at all, since they refuse payment arrangements of any kind, and I have tried over and over to do this. I was even told they would not give me an address to send payment, it had to be over the phone, and it had to be all of it at once. I have since found the address but was told if I sent anything short of the full amount of each, that they would "throw it out in the trash".
I have requested a letter from them to make sure this is legitimate, they refuse. Mejiers, when I call them, doesn't know who this company is! The amounts they ask for change at least every other day. And I don't mean always going up. Sometimes it's as much as 20.00 less one day and more the next.
I have also been given threats of them calling my disability case worker, as well as Social Security Office, to get my disability stopped since I am a "crook" according to them. Just this morning at 8:30am I got such a call and hung up on her. They called back not 10 minutes later.
I too, like others, have unknown caller blocking for my phone service. I turned the service on, but have discovered that when they call me, the service goes off and I have to turn it back on again! I had to finally give up on that. That cannot be legal.
