I purchased a FLM3232 about 2-1/2 years ago and loved the T.V. until one week ago when it wouldn't power on. I paid 50 dollars to have a service man do a in house estimate for repair and he quoted 400 dollars for the Control board and labor. He also mentioned that they do not have the part in stock and that lead times were as high as 2 months. Having spent 999.99 at Circuit City on this T.V not more than 3 years ago, I found this to be quite disturbing. I've decided not to have it repaired, and chalk this up as a loss/learning experience. In this case I believe it's "You get what you pay for". I will not continue to buy any of Polaroid?s products and am completely unhappy with a life span of 2-1/2 years on my 999.99 dollar investment. Being the Techno Guy in my family as well as with friends I will make sure to direct there attention to a more reliable product. I believe you have quality control issues and have been eagerly selling under designed products to consumers. I've also filed a complaint on www.ripoffreport.com where I found a number of other consumers having the same issues. I guess my only hope is there are enough of us out there to start the class action lawsuit process.

I understand my unit is out of warranty and cannot be serviced for a reasonable fee, but I've never had a T.V. that lasted less than 10 years. I've discussed this with work associates and family members alike we all agree 2-1/2 year life span leaves allot to be desired.

Exactly the same has happened to me

I bought my Polaroid FLM 3232 in March of 2006 , about 2 months ago , it would not power up or do anything . I called Polaroid Tech support (Phone: 1-866-289-5168) , and they said I needed a new control box . They said it would be $225 dollars , they could send a Tech to replace it , and would get a 90 day warranty , OR I could do it myself , and get NO warranty ... I paid $999 dollars @ Circuit City , and did not get the extended warranty , because I did research , and that research said that these TV were supposed to last for 50,000 hours ! If had been running all the time since I purchased it , it would not have reached 20,000 hours , and we used this TV rarely . From what I've now read on BLOG's about this and other Polaroid TV's , I guess I was lucky to get it to work as long as it did . The Problem with these TV's is a Manufacturing / Parts Problem , and they expect the consumer to pay for their beta testing of bad parts + pay for the new parts that should not have burnt out so soon !!! I will not pay Polaroid to repair this TV , nor will I buy ANY Polaroid Product EVER again. I am going to take it to a Local repair shop , and if he can fix it for under $200 , I'll let him , If not , into the Junk pile it goes .
