U-Haul Comapny failed to protect against fraud Phoenix Arizona
In 2002 Uhaul allowed a criminal to rent a trailer using my name and designated themself as the pick-up person. Uhaul allowed that person to stick me with the rental costs and gave the equipment to the criminal. Over ten years later I tried to rent a trailer and found out about this fraud and I had to file a police report to get these fraudulent charges off my account.
After spending hours on the phone with Uhaul they told me that their policy remains the same and basically any person is at risk of having the same situation happen to them. Their policy still allows criminals to make online reservations and designate a 'pick-up' person to pick up the equipment. I have filed a complaint with BBB but Uhaul keeps misleading BBB to believe it is a different issue outside of their control.
Uhaul has not apologized for the event and has refused to cooperate with law enforcement regarding this fraud and has refused to alter their policy to better protect consumers.
