Uber Movers Inc Terrilbe Moving Co Greer South Carolina

In Sept. 2013 I contacted Uber Movers to move our household from Illinois to Tulsa Ok. I spoke with Richard richard @uber-movers.com) and after doing an inventory list I was given a binding moving estimate of $3869.68 with a down payment of $564.36...$1983.19 at pick up and $1322.12 balance at delivery. Pick up scheduled for Oct 16 or 17 they would call and let me know.  The call said they would arrive on the 17th between 9-11 Am.

It was after 8pm when 2 men arrived in the rain. Nothing was put down to protect the carpeting which became very soiled. They were far from the professional movers we were told would come.  One could neither speak nor read English so boxes marked fragile or" careful glass" meant nothing to him and were often dropped or knocked over.  Things were simply crammed or jammed into the truck. At 2am they left saying their truck was too small and they would return the next morning before 11am to finish

It was after 3 pm the next day before they returned. The last items and boxes were throwen and crammed into the truck.  When they were finished loading we were to have a check of $1983.19 for them.  However the "foreman" demanded $4309.00 that he said he  was told to get.  When I asked to speak with his supervisor he refused to call him or to give me the number. Then he threatened to unload everything in the front yard if we didn't pay that full amount.

The delivery was also a disaster!  It was to be delivered to a storage place as our home was not yet ready.  The delivery date was changed 3 times.  I was told by the Uber office that the truck was stopped for "investigation" when it crossed the Oklahoma state line.  When our furniture was finally unloaded on Nov 8 it was apparent that many boxes and storage tubs had been gone thru.  Lids were off..boxes crushed..and many items damaged or broken.  Furniture was gouged, mirrors broken, 85% of my tools were lost..outdoor furniture was broken and my large flat screen TV had disappeared!!  I also received other items that were not mine The total price for this horrible experience was $7181.86 nearly double the $3869.68 we were quoted. 

I contacted the company and was told I had to go thru MovingClaims.net P.O. Box 630686 Miami Fl. 33163 to file any complaints. I started a claims process and was told it would be settled within 60 days.  In mid April 2014 I finally received notice that we would receive a compensation check in mid May.  Weeks went by and each time I called I was told the supervisor would call me back.  Months went by..phone calls ignored...in Aug 2014 Moving Claims told me to call Uber Movers billing dept 1-866-386-8237 as they would send the check. Finally in Feb 2015 I received a claim settlement check for...$68.00!!!

I don't know how this company can stay in business!  They are terrible to do business with...far from professional.....ripoff is too nice to describe them.  DON'T EVER do business with them.  You're better off moving yourself in a pickup truck.!
